World End Diner

Impossible to play at its current state. When you move around, the screen shakes like mad. It's giving me a headache and is making me extremely nauseous. No other game ever did that to me. I looked into it some more and it seems many people have this issue for over a year and nothing is being done. Very disappointing. Time for a refund.

I know it's not really finished, but man do I love this game. It's not without flaws, but its flaws kind of add to the immersion of the experience. You start as a robot that doesn't understand or have familiarity with the Earth it finds itself in. The pixel art at times doesn't communicate itself well, but that actually adds to the whole being a robot that doesn't recognize what a strawberry bush is feeling. Your hand is not always held. Some information you're given directly, and some you have to stumble through to figure out. It really works within itself for these reasons, to me. It makes something that is familiar to us feel unfamiliar and new, and I like that a lot. I feel like the little robot guy learning all this stuff, and I think that's really cool. There are a thousand farm sim / market type games at this point, but I can't think of another one where I really feel like I'm really learning the world and its contents with the character I'm playing. Another thing I really liked about it (aside from the adorable animals + robots theme mashup) is that every time you think you're reaching the end, a new mechanic is unlocked that gains more usage and adds another layer to what you were already working with. I found that really expansive, which I also enjoyed. Anyway, if you're thinking about it, I'd give it a shot. Not because I expect it to actually be finished, but I love what is there very much and while it starts kind of slow, I like the way it paces itself and how immersive the game feels, like it knows its limitations and makes use of them (like foggy graphics in old horror movies being because of graphic limitations, but ultimately adding value to the experience). Really, the reason I'm writing this review is to provide some positive reinforcement for the developer for their efforts. I love this game, and so much of it is because it's clearly made with active consideration by a human being. Its knowledgeable and clever with its shortcomings and offerings. This game would have been made worse, not better, with different graphics (in my opinion, ofc), and using Ai to try to make a 'prettier' game only removes what gave this iteration so much soul, and made me love it so much, in spite of not even being finished. I hope you'll make a return to roots, as I really love what you made here.

I played the game for such a long time, only for it to stop working. some other people are having the same issues; however, no one seems to care enough to even respond to the complaints. so this game can just stop working suddenly with all your progress going to waste <3 just letting you know.
