This game is an homage to Final Fantasy (the first one) and, even moreso, Wizardry (also the first one). It is brutal, unfair, and requires you to think a bit outside the box to succeed. I am giving this a thumbs up because that is what they are going for and they do a marvelous job delivering on that. With that said, I got to the last boss, discovered that my party is literally incapable of beating him, and am permanently DNF'ing this in lieu of grinding to respec. If you like that old school challenge, this game will bring it. I think it brought just a tad more than I was personally after though.
Fantastic mix of Wizardry:Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord and Final Fantasy 1/5. Play it on Retro if you've ever finished a dungeon crawler or NES RPG. Modern will feel too easy if you're experienced with the genre. Keep in mind the friction is the point. Mapping is genuinely rough to start but you get quality of life upgrades as you play.
Final Fantasy meets Wizardry in this rogue-lite mashup that pays homage to both the JRPG and CRPG genres. I was obsessed with this game for a few weeks and if you're a fan of retro RPGs, you will be too. I only wish there were more floors to explore!
