Yu-Gi-Oh! EARLY DAYS COLLECTION

I feel like I am the target audience for this specific release. Modern Yu-Gi-Oh is way too convoluted and mechanic-heavy for me to enjoy, and I was also a huge fan of the GBA titles as a child, so the Yu-Gi-Oh Early Days Collection has been a great way to go back to and enjoy the original era of the Yu-Gi-Oh card game. The game features titles that stateside fans grew up with, as well as a few games that were Japan exclusive prior to the collection, so there are some other classic Yu-Gi-Oh games that players in the U.S. didn't get to experience until this collection released. If you are like me, and miss when the scariest things in the Yu-Gi-Oh card game were accidently triggering an opponent's Trap Hole card or getting directly attacked by a Blue Eyes, don't miss this collection of classic games that perfectly captures the essence of what classic Yu-Gi-Oh once was.

These games are so Nostalgic. They focus only on the early 2000s when yugioh cards were GOATED back before they ran out of ideas and before the abominations today like cards depicting a live ice cream, some girl with only one titty, and a Ford F150.

Stop me if you've heard this one before. "No dueling against friends allowed! You can only duel the computer!" I guess this collection was produced by Abridged Kaiba Corp, because they went out of their way to actually disable the local multiplayer on most of the games, and offer online multiplayer on only a fraction of them. People make the argument that local multiplayer NEEDS to be disabled because you can't hide your cards from the player if they're on the same screen, but it's a flimsy excuse when it should be up to the players whether we want to play the games with friends at the cost of our hands being open knowledge. Just use an honor system with your buddies... Seriously, there was no reason to arbitrarily lock out all of the local multiplayer, that was the fumble of the century if online play is gonna be limited to a select FEW games. Imo the best thing this collection has to offer atm is Dungeon Dice Monsters with online play. That's pretty much it... Not that it's active at all. Otherwise, you get a far better experience with any emulator of your choice. Online play is available for Dungeon Dice Monsters, Duel Monsters 4, and World Championship Tournament 2004. That's it. Out of the FOURTEEN games this collection offers, THREE of them can be played with other humans. Even the party game, Destiny Board Traveler, is locked into being a single player experience somehow... even though hand knowledge in that game is almost meaningless. The only reason I could ever think anyone would want to buy this for full price is because they must really want to support Konami, since you do not get your money's worth at all. But during a big sale... I don't blame anyone for wanting to pick it up as long as they're content with spending 80% of the game, alone with the Yugioh CPU from the days of old. But hey, at least it includes a few games that were originally Japanese-exclusive until now. I have to give them SOME props for that at least. I don't really have much else to say other than that... until they improve the roster of games that have online multiplayer support, this was a pure cash grab. Nothing more.
