If you found this game you should probably play it. I'd wager that if you're reading this, you've already played A Monsters Expedition and rightfully loved the experience. I'd also wager that if you're reading this, you'd enjoy more puzzles like those in A Monsters Expedition. So this is me confirming: Yes, this game is more of that style. Yes, it does use entirely different mechanics. Yes, it is much shorter. And yes this game is a lot of fun.

The Electrifying Incident: A Monster Mini-Expedition has, yet again, some similar problems I've experienced before from this developer. They seem to be unable to make puzzles that aren't either very tedious to solve (tedious isn't difficult), or are mostly "difficult" because they lack simple QOL features. I like the concept - with a grappling hook, you can grapple cubes from several fields away and move them around. The hook bends when you move it on an edge, which means positioning is key as you grapple cubes to move them onto switches and past electric fields. It's simple and kind of satisfying, at least for a short game, but it gets annoying very quick due to reasons not directly related to the mechanics. While the game is apparently not very long, I didn't even make it to the end because of how frustrating the lack of a map is, for example. When you have to move cubes from one room to the next, or get cubes from several rooms over to bring into a different room, not being able to pull up a map makes it so much more tedious and frustrating than it needs to be, and it's even worse when you take a break for a day or two and have to remember where you left off. Short game or not, that's unacceptable. Don't remember what a room had or if you need a cube from somewhere because you're one short? Well, solve puzzles backwards until you're back in the previous room(s), and then go back to the initial room again. Because so many rooms are interconnected and need cubes from other rooms, it's just a back and forth, moving the focus away from the initial cool grapple- and corner mechanics, which had a lot of potential in itself, to "how well do you remember the previous rooms", plus "can you even go back there? Have fun wasting time to find out". How hard is it to just make a satisfying puzzle game that works within its own boundaries, rather than making the games tedious and difficult because of a lack of a map or introducing pointless tedium? I feel like Draknek makes the same mistakes over and over in their games and it's disappointing because the premise is there each and every time, and each and every time there is something preventing it from actually feeling "good" in the way a puzzle game should. A Monsters Expedition had similar issues with the way the puzzles were connected, turning what should be a simple and relaxing puzzle game into a fight against the game itself, an issue that could be so easily solved by a useful map (or a map at all, in the case of this game) or better communication by the game with the player so time can be spent actually, you know, puzzling, which is why I buy and play puzzle games. It takes skill to take an already short puzzle game and make it so frustrating to progress in that I don't even want to spend the time on it to make it to the end. It's cheap, so you're not losing out on a lot of money, and it's not overly difficult as far as I've progressed, but I can't recommend it if you want a satisfying puzzle experience.

The Electrifying Incident: A Monster Mini-Expedition is a compact puzzle adventure that makes its limited scope work in its favor. Developed and published by Draknek and Friends, it places players inside a dangerous facility where an unstable reactor is heading toward disaster. The objective is simple enough to understand: venture deeper into the complex, overcome electrically charged obstacles, manipulate the environment, and reach the reactor before everything goes wrong. Rather than stretching this premise into a lengthy campaign, the game presents itself as a tightly constructed miniature expedition intended to deliver its ideas in a focused session. Its main attraction is the combination of spatial puzzles and a mechanical grabber arm capable of moving boxes from a distance. Object manipulation may sound familiar to anyone who has played Sokoban-inspired puzzle games, but the remote grabber changes how players approach positioning. You are not always required to stand beside an object to interact with it, so solving a room becomes a matter of considering where the character should stand, where boxes need to be placed, and how the grabber can be used without trapping yourself or blocking an essential route. The controls and underlying rules are approachable, while the puzzles gradually demand a stronger understanding of those rules. Electricity provides another important dimension to the level design. Electrified spaces are more than decorative hazards, forcing players to examine each room and determine a safe sequence of actions. Locked doors and environmental barriers further complicate navigation, creating situations where moving a box is only one part of a larger solution. The game is at its strongest when the answer is visible in retrospect but initially requires careful experimentation. There is a satisfying progression from understanding individual mechanics to recognizing how several elements can interact within the same puzzle. The difficulty curve benefits considerably from the short format. Early situations establish how movement, object manipulation, hazards, and the grabber operate before later puzzles combine these ideas in more demanding arrangements. There is little need for repetitive filler because the adventure is designed to last approximately 30 to 90 minutes. That makes progression feel brisk, with new challenges arriving before earlier concepts become tedious. Puzzle enthusiasts accustomed to enormous campaigns may wish the mechanics had more time to develop, but the concentrated pacing ensures that the experience rarely overstays its welcome. Visually, the game uses a colorful and minimalist style that gives the facility personality without compromising puzzle readability. Interactive elements and environmental hazards are easy to distinguish, which is especially valuable when success depends on understanding the spatial relationship between multiple objects. The cute appearance of the protagonist creates an amusing contrast with the potentially catastrophic reactor emergency. Instead of becoming dark or intimidating, the expedition maintains an inviting tone that makes experimentation feel playful even when the character is surrounded by electrical danger. The biggest consideration is undoubtedly the amount of content. This is intentionally a mini-expedition rather than a substantial adventure, and players who measure value primarily through playtime may find the experience over remarkably quickly. The upside is that virtually every room has a purpose. There is no requirement to invest dozens of hours before seeing the strongest ideas, making it particularly appealing for players who want a complete puzzle experience that fits comfortably into a single evening. Its achievements offer additional completion goals, although they should not be expected to transform the game into a long-term commitment. Steam Deck users should consider the game playable rather than assume a completely optimized…
