Ludeon has become far too greedy, completely fragmenting the gameplay experience with a constant stream of DLCs, each seemingly more expensive and less relevant than the last, with prices now approaching that of the base game itself. And yet, the base game still has huge shortcomings that have never been addressed. You mine steel and electronic components straight out of the mountain (??), yet a DLC adds car wrecks to the landscape that serve absolutely no purpose. It's almost impossible to interact with visitors, even when they're the lost siblings, parents, or children of your own colonists. They show up, wander around for a while, and leave without anything happening or any way to interact with them. You really have to wonder what the point is. At times, the game genuinely feels unfinished. The world is massive, but desperately empty. The number of procedural events is ridiculously low for a game in this genre. In reality, almost nothing interesting ever happens in the world around you and nothing makes you want to explore it. The "storytellers" are mostly smoke and mirrors: behind the fancy name, they're really just different difficulty settings that don't actually change the story being told, they just spam more or less of the always same events. Breeding animals is a micromanagement feast. The worst part is that the 100 bucks worth of DLCs don't even fix these issues. They just add more content, often a mishmash of unrelated features with little to no real coherence between expansions. Features that could genuinely make the game more interesting, such as jetpacks, genetics, or cultural systems, are locked behind paid expansions, further fragmenting the experience between players without any overarching vision, all while the base game continues to sell millions of copies, just as it did at its peak. All this, I could forgive when Rimworld was a single dev game struggling to add content, but after 5 DLC, each more expensive and pointless then the previous one, and spending $150 into the game, I cannot just forgive this anymore. I don't want to be milked anymore. If I've put 800 hours into this game, it's entirely thanks to the modding community, whose members are the only ones who've bothered to address all these shortcomings for free, while Ludeon was busy releasing another $25 DLC and ugly $15 pins. At this point, I can no longer recommend RimWorld. The game has become a cash machine, with the steady release of DLCs seemingly taking priority over fixing the game's core issues. The experience has deteriorated over the years, all in favor of increasingly blatant greed. At this point, I'd recommend looking into other indie developers with a much better attitude toward their own games.

This game satisfied every imagination and fantasy I have about literally anything. If you love micromanagement game + simulation, you'll love this game

One of the best games I've played. Very modding friendly, good attention to details in small places which is unexpected from modern gaming. Basically immortal due to high modding scene and insane support of modders. Surprisingly pro-player game, and is an example how games should be made. Highly recommend. Only issue is when you add like 20 mods it takes quite A LOT of time to start the game, though after you enter it is fairly responsive even with 100+ mods.
