First I wanna start this with I played the entire game on steam deck as I got a pop up saying it's better on controller. I do not have a controller. So Steam Deck it was. So keep that in mind. I'm giving this game a tentative recommend. There's quite a few things I wasn't a fan of with this game, but the overall gameplay was enjoyable enough that I feel like it gets the recommend button (seriously steam we've been asking for years for a kinda button...) So what is the game? You play a little robot that makes sushi (except you don't) and you go to a failing town as a chef to open a sushi place under false pretenses. Not gonna spoil the story, but the town needs your help and your revenue. When I say you don't make sushi I mean it. The "making" of the sushi is just your robot pressing a button on a machine and the machine makes it. You don't make anything. Then you just go table to table and deliver the plates. People will order dishes based on category (sweet, fish, vegetable, and hearty). You also have the bonus category of rainbow, which can be given to anyone. They will also want a certain quality of food represented by a number. So you'll see a color bubble with a number on it above someones head. Run to the sushi-matic and grab the appropriate plate and deliver. Don't have a plate that fits? Just press the button on the sushi-matic to get more dishes, you don't lose money or anything for wasting food. Raise your places reputation by keeping things clean, getting the right dishes, and delivering in a timely manner. Eventually you also have to keep customers happy by quickly feeding people on cell phones and honking horns at people who fall asleep at their tables for some reason. You unlock recipes in various ways and you guy ingredients to upgrade the quality of your recipes. You can also buy furniture to decorate your place. There's a coffee shop where you take people on lunch "dates" to just get to know them and become better friends. Better friendship unlocks various perks. So onto the good and bad Good: 1) The controls are really smooth on steam deck. I could turn Sushi Bot really easy and get to tables easily. I do have some issues... but we'll save that for the negative. Overall the controls were nicely mapped 2) The game play gave me Diner Dash vibes and that's something my millenial ass missed. That is... the overwhelming reason it's getting a recommend. 3) The overall design is lovely. I enjoyed the visuals, art design, and sound design. I was muted most of the game but that was just me desiring silence and not anything against the game it's self. 4) I do like that people do not request specific dishes. Just because, at least on the small screen of the steam deck, it made it very easy to see what people wanted. I had been worried at first that maybe I wouldn't recognize peoples orders. 5) I was never short on things to do. Various new daily tasks crop up as the game progresses. Like daily finding a fishing spot to get you extra ingredients. Finding the random hidden gift. Finding 3 soda cans and recycling them for early money. Using your little locating radar to find an additional gift. Random daily challenges serving spirits sushi. I had plenty to do. Doing daily challenge tasks of Min's to be able to buy stuff from her shop. It did get repetative... but it was still enjoyable. 6) So many options for customizing sushi bot! So many hats and skin designs. You can even get different honking noises. 7) You do eventually unlock abilities that make serving easier. Like a little bot that helps clean. The ability to pause time. A dash button. This is nice because at a certain point orders did get overwhelming. Bad 1) So about those controls. I really really hate that the same button is used to start the sushi-matic as is to pick up plates. More often than not I would grab a plate from the belt *next* to the sushi-matic and accidentally start it. Losing all the sushi on my belt. 2) Several mechanics see…
