Dice Tribes: Ambitions

Neat and cute game with randomness and strategic thinkink as well. Secret ambitions motivate to unlock them and losing fells no bad. As far as I got, it's the first game of the developer, and it must be said - it has an interesting idea which was realised nicely. Hope the game will be updated and gain new ambitions to achieve!

I always read reviews before considering a purchase. We could argue back and forth all day as to whether that is a good approach to purchasing games or not. When you read them as much as I do, you see patterns, and some I quickly dismiss - like the "i've played 1.5 hours and the game is "the best/worst" or I've played "302 hours and the game is wonderful/terrible". Also, the "I went to play for an hour before bed and the next thing I knew it was 3am" etc etc... Well, I picked this up some time ago, played for less than an hour and either I wasn't in the mood to learn it, or it didn't grab me on the day. A long time later, out of pure randomess, I tried it again today, whipped through the tutorial in the morning and was, overall, mildly interested. Did a few things around the house and tried the first Campaign level at 4pm. I write this review after midnight, having only had a short break for dinner and bathroom breaks! Yep, I am writing one of "those" reviews. It's good. I've defeated the first 3 campaign levels (each of those particular missions have an option of two vcitory conditions, so i've repeated them each to complete both), and whilst I haven't felt like i was teetering on losing at any point, the puzzle has been overhwlmingly satisfying to fight against. Also, every level and victory method has its own new mechanics and intergrated systems to work out. I may well go hard on this for a week and then burn out on it, but I gotta say that if you are a dice worker placement board game fan who can handle a little luck (much of which can be mitgated), this will be right up your alley. Just don't throw it to the side as quickly as I did!

Your tribe is trying to survive. Your tribesmen are dice. Tasks require certain die (dice) faces for success. Faces can be changed by specializing tribesmen. If you like small turn-based resource management games you will LOVE this one!
