This game was played in its entirety on a MacBook Air M1 8gb ram 7c gpu running MacOS Sonoma. There was one small bug, but no crashes throughout my time with the game. All achievements unlocked at their appropriate times. TLDR: A fantastic game that appeals to both tower defense and idle players. Its only minor negative is its short length, but otherwise the game was an excellent experience. I really enjoyed Castle Idler. It takes some risks and mostly pulls them off. It's a fantastic game that melds tower defense mechanics with a pseudo-idle background. The graphics are simple but effective. You can easily tell at a glance if an enemy is frozen, slowed, poisoned, burned, or hydrated. Each one matters, I swears! The sound effects are very basic and I found them inoffensive. A small nitpick is that the game is not really an idler, at least at the start. The game NEVER does anything offline. All progress must be made with the game running. This is a bit unusual for an idler, but it is such a short game that I don't think this is a bad thing. You do have to be active in the game at the start as nothing is automated. As you play, you will gain some automation features fairly quickly (I got most of them within two hours of playing). Once you get them, they aren't taken away, and the game transitions into more of an idler than an active tower defense game. The perks, tower upgrades, and placement all combine for some satisfying strategic decisions. A few of the strategies I employed were Permafrost, Laser Bombs, Slicer Combo, Flame Combine, and Burn&Poison Stacking. The amount of builds you can make in this short game is pretty astounding. I honestly wish there was more to do at the end that required different strategies. As it is, you will be gently guided to the most obvious strategy at each group of levels based on what perks you have available at the moment. It's great fun, and I'd love to see this expanded on in a sequel or DLC. The one small bug I encountered only occurred in the very last level. In it, I would sometimes encounter invulnerable enemies. Obviously, this stopped me from winning, but only for a few minutes. Not even an annoyance, really. This game is a very easy recommendation for any player that enjoys tower defense games, or idler games. And if you happen to really enjoy both? Oh, my stars and garters! What are you still doing reading this when you could be throwing coins at your screen?? TLDR: A fantastic game that appeals to both tower defense and idle players. Its only minor negative is its short length, but otherwise the game was an excellent experience.
Not a bad game. It's tower defense with Idle mixed. With prestige system you chose what upgrades you want base on your build.
It's a bit rough around the edges, but overall a nice and short tower defense game. Takes about 4 hours to 100% if you choose your strategies wisely.
