i unfortunately cant play it as the second i load in its all glitchy and i can see anything i peaked around to see if it was a graphical error but i don't see anything wrong still. it does look really fun though
Wizards in Shorts, developed by Dylan Habersetzer and published by BM7, is the kind of multiplayer experiment that feels intentionally unserious yet mechanically sincere. It takes the structure of a classic arena shooter and filters it through a layer of absurd humor, resulting in a fast-paced, spell-slinging experience where robed dignity is replaced by chaotic energy and, quite literally, very little clothing. The premise alone sets the tone: small groups of eccentric wizards battle in compact arenas using a mix of magical projectiles and mobility tricks, creating matches that are less about careful planning and more about instinct, timing, and improvisation. The core gameplay revolves around short, intense bouts where players use a limited but varied set of spells to eliminate opponents while staying alive themselves. These spells range from familiar elemental attacks to more unconventional projectiles that behave in unexpected ways, forcing players to adapt quickly rather than rely on a single dominant tactic. Movement plays a central role, with mechanics like bunny hopping and explosive jumps giving players the ability to traverse arenas rapidly and unpredictably. This combination of projectile-based combat and high mobility makes encounters feel fluid and kinetic, rewarding players who can think and react on the fly. It’s not a deeply tactical system, but it doesn’t need to be—the appeal lies in the constant motion and split-second decision-making. Matches themselves tend to be quick and energetic, which works well for the game’s design. The small player count ensures that engagements are frequent and personal, with little downtime between clashes. This immediacy makes the game easy to jump into, especially for casual sessions or group play. At its best, it captures that old-school arena shooter feeling where the outcome of a match can shift rapidly based on a single well-timed move or clever use of terrain. However, because of its simplicity, the gameplay loop can start to feel repetitive over longer sessions, particularly once players become familiar with the available spells and map layouts. The game’s identity is heavily tied to its humor and presentation. It leans fully into its absurd concept, with exaggerated character designs and a general tone that refuses to take itself seriously. This lighthearted approach gives it a distinct charm, making it feel more like a party game than a competitive shooter. For some players, this irreverence is part of the appeal, creating an environment where losing feels less frustrating and experimentation is encouraged. For others, the lack of a more grounded or immersive tone might make it harder to stay engaged over time. The humor is consistent, but it is also very specific in style, which means it won’t resonate equally with everyone. Visually and technically, Wizards in Shorts reflects its indie origins. The graphics are simple and functional, prioritizing clarity over detail, and the arenas are designed to support movement rather than visual spectacle. This works in the game’s favor during matches, as it keeps everything readable even during chaotic encounters, but it also highlights the limited scope of the project. The interface and overall presentation are straightforward, though not particularly refined, and there are moments where the game feels closer to a prototype than a fully polished release. That said, it remains stable and playable, which is ultimately what matters most for this type of experience. The multiplayer component is both the game’s greatest strength and its biggest challenge. Designed primarily for online play, it thrives when there are active players to fill matches, especially when playing with friends. The inclusion of bots helps mitigate empty lobbies, but they cannot fully replicate the unpredictability of human opponents. As with many small-scale multiplayer titles, the long-term experience depends heavily on community activity, which can v…
