For being my first deck builder game, Voice of Belldona's Early Access is generally enjoyable so far. When the final release happened, investing some time into it then, I'll update this recommendation. I do like anime-based games, graphics and art, the game catching my interest when I came across it. If you like anime characters, you'll surely enjoy them in the game as it also offered some nice eye candy of mild levels. Nothing of ecchi levels, variety of characters being given so you find someone you like for sure. Two characters to pick, only playing with Rinna so far as she's the type of character I can enjoy a lot, able to pick between three builds to focus on. So even among character choices, you can play and build them different which is nice since a change of pace never hurts. That also goes for passives and buffs you can get (permanently), taking a bit before they fully unfold within a run so you can notice progress with them. Maps have events, battles, shops, and a few other sources to interact with, giving it some variety. Events may chain into each other, offering better rewards if you've picked the right choices, There's a bit of variety among them and depending on map, surely expanding wider over time. Multiple difficulty levels and other mechanics to turn on or off to make a run harder but more rewarding as there's some stuff to unlock if you successfully beat a whole run, rewarding you with currency for those. Enemy variety feels good, each map having a good selection of different enemies, bosses also varying between two or three which you can encounter. With a theme of futuristic and fantasy-based enemies, some uglier, some more of eye candy levels, feeling like a good mix and thought was put into those. Music in general is enjoyable to listen to, giving the game a nice atmosphere. Things which surely need to get addressed and worked on is not only with bugs which I only encountered one so far but the UI and balance of difficulty is what needs to still get worked on. I've made a few posts in the discussions here, hoping that the devs will come across those with a video and screenshot added. The UI throws a lot of things together and overlaps those, pointing out the pinned finisher window to be in a spot where it overlaps with you and/or your summons, blocking the view of HP, buffs, debuffs, and combo counter which it shouldn't do. Hence why I've suggested to make that window be possible to move and resize by the player so anyone who may feel it's better in another spot could simply drag it over. While playing on normal, I stumbled across one boss which I assume is the final boss with multiple phases, the difficulty of that battle skyrocketing into difficulty levels I don't know how to handle. I can't say if I got to that battle by coincidence or not, expecting me to have some more passives gathered from doing more runs, but I honestly don't see how that'd help. The big problem is that too much happens what makes your battle a really, really hard one. - Heals for 10% HP after using a few cards - Gains armor which adds up to even higher HP you have to break through - Throws a lot of trash cards into your deck to make your draws worse and harder to get what you need - Drains your energy to use cards after I think three were used - Wipes your entire hand after six cards, and drains any remaining energy off of you - Other means of negating your damage plus two additional enemies which both have multiple stacks of a buff to only get one damage done to those And then each of them do their attacks and other shenanigans, fighting that boss for over 45 minutes just to wipe after trying my hardest to get through this. Any fights before had their nifty mechanics to be challenging, but that boss is beyond what I'd call challenging, and that is on playing on normal difficulty. Any other boss felt fine until this one, too many things happening within used card numbers which feel like they trigger too fast. Aside…
This game is bad. I don't have an ounce of faith that the devs have the technical ability to make the game functional. Attack previews for enemies are constantly wrong/misleading, every boss seems to be a gotcha, (Does something that completely ruins certain strategies that you can't know about until it happens to you) I get why the retry mechanic is so generous, 90% of the boss fights are gotchas. Loved the one with the gimmick being enemy summons changing from a strike front to aoe because the symbol is wrong. Also the amount of attacks on the hit everything attack on the same boss randomly showing incorrect amounts. My expectations were low, and yet, I've played collage projects that had more polish. Also the vibes of this game are super creepy, anime slop is one thing but "petting" a little girl on the head until she pants and begs for more is *** gross.
Good game with multiple characters and card types for different playstyles and replay value does need a bit of balance changes both for both bosses and heroes but most games do.
