The State of Nowhere

I hate to say it but it's just not that good. I do like the allegory to oppressive regimes, but the actual UI/screen is ugly as sin. You can hardly tell when something important is flashing because it's so dim, and overshadowed by all of the other screens or moving parts. This could have been executed much better, and I just cannot justify this game at $20. Maybe at $10 or lower. This is a pass for me. Papers Please is a much better alternative for this style of game, and this one should have taken a few more important notes.

I dare say this is even better than the original Paper's Please, so many rules, so many endings and achievements and that amazing feeling of finishing a day with no mistakes despite all the things to make sure is absolutely correct. Of of if not the only cashier game to force you to calculate the change yourself (though you can upgrade it to calculate change for you). I've been playing on what I think is the normal difficulty level and you get about 3 minutes per person, there's endless mode too. Try out the demo, it's wonderful as well.

Scratches that Papers Please itch real nice and dev is super involved in resolving bugs. Had a great finale too where I forgot to pay for utilities, my family left but at least I got to drink myself to death with a pet by my side
