The Rocky Horror Show Video Game

The late, great Tim Curry is my favourite actor. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of my favourite films. Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to play a very recent RHPS video game adaptation (out of which there are suprisingly more than you'd assume) and I had a lot of fun with this one. I don't mind short games, especially ones with as much polish and style as this one. Rocky Horror's aesthetics are faithfully recreated in very charming and funny pixel art. The musical's songs are also all crunched down to sound like old-school video game tunes. Obviously, its a bit too clean to be exactly like old SNES games, but I was too charmed by it all to care, honestly. This was clearly made by a fan. As for the game itself, it's a great time. The gameplay is reasonably difficult (New Game Plus especially) and the levels are well designed. As for critiques, I will say that those well-designed levels are repeated a bit too much. "Play through the same level as another character but this time it's slightly harder" is a method I prefer when done sparingly and that ain't the case here. I also do think that the dedication to get so many Rocky Horror references in there sometimes hurts the pacing. The gameplay is interrupted by the Narrator and the gags a bit too much for my taste. Other than that, I don't really have much else to complain about. It's just a nice new way to experience Rocky Horror and that's fine by me. I'm glad there is still passion for it. Rest in Peace, Tim. You were one of the best to ever do it. I'll miss you terribly.

When I first realized there was a game for this cult classic movie, I was like did this movie really need this. If you love 2D platformers, this is a great game. Great music and platforming puzzles. Love the retro vibe!

Very fun time! Also a very easy 100% when it comes to achievements. I think fans of the story will love this game! Just make sure you’re comfortable with platforming games! RIP Tim Curry <3
