I Fell In Love With The Majesty of Colors is a very short game (I finished all endings and achievements by the time I'm writing this) so I'll try keeping the review short (or at least shorter than my other reviews) as well. Spoilers ahead, duh. The main premise of this game is that the gameplay takes place in the player character's lucid dream (it's never revealed what relation they have to the sea monster, if they're really the same being, if it was just a dream, if the monster is a shapeshifter, etc.) in which you control a large nonhuman aquatic creature which has three eyes (that act as a health indicator) and one main tentacle for grabbing (which you control with the mouse cursor). The entity was content in the deep sea until it saw colorful balloons flying overhead, and upon grabbing one, finally saw color and became interested in the world and the small humans who live and work nearby. The narration will always come from the player character (both as a human and as a sea monster) and there's no dialogue, but you will get hints from what they tell you. You encounter various kinds of humans and vehicles (a jetskier, a helicopter and its driver, a submarine, fishermen, a child learning to swim, and some more) and it's up to you to decide if you will help them (give them a colorful balloon, give them fish to eat, move out of their way) or hurt them in some way (drown them, make the helicopter crash, let the child get eaten by a shark). Everything that moves in this game is interactable, so the humans, fish, balloons, and even the birds will produce some kind of result if you grab them. Each "scene" in the game branches out according to the decision you made and eventually leads to an ending, of which there are five (A B C D and E). It will always be obvious which decisions made the humans happy and which decisions angered them, as a helicopter will fly overhead with a large banner either showing a heart next to the monster or a skull. No matter which ending you get, the player character will wake up from the dream afterwards, feeling/hearing/seeing different things (according to the ending) as if the dream had an effect on the waking world. In my opinion, this is a powerful realization of the facts that: 1, your actions will have consequences that might follow you for a long time, so you should be mindful of how you treat others (since as soon as you make a choice, the humans will react accordingly, and the player character will wake up and immediately find out that what they did in the dream had an effect in real life) 2, you will have your past experiences and memories to guide you in the future, you will have the opportunity to improve and become a better version of yourself (since the game is infinitely replayable and getting one ending doesn't lock you out of another one, and there are extra achievements for doing other things that are not required for any ending). Since the game is fairly old, there are some bugs/issues, like the balloons not attaching on the first try, the tentacle getting stuck on itself, and the fast forward button causing the fishermen's boat to actually spawn twice (I don't remember if it softlocked me, but be careful with inputting things too quickly). Also note that the achievements only pop up after the ending cutscene with the player character waking up is finished and the game returns to the main menu, even the achievements that aren't tied to endings (so you won't know if you did something correctly until after you finished the playthrough). If you ever dreamed (daydreaming or literally) about being a sea monster with tentacles, this game will let you live that fantasy out again (and most likely make you feel a little bad about it). Thank you Future Proof Games for preserving this Flash classic.
This game could definitely use a modernized sequel. The idea of a dream where you're some god-like denizen of the deep and get to decide how you behave which causes humans to treat you differently sounds like a lot of fun.
