If you're a speedrunner at heart, you're gonna love this game. Experimenting, finding the optimal route and sharpening the execution is what this game is all about. If you can't beat a level, that's skill issue, so stop complaining and start training. The community is very competitive but friendly. Also there's Icosa-chan (you can find her if you're good enough).
POLY IMPULSE takes the familiar ingredients of a first-person shooter and rearranges them into something much more focused on movement, timing, and speed. Instead of building its identity around firefights or traditional enemy encounters, it treats shooting as an essential part of traversal. Developed by Dani Bedmar and Moromon and published by Dani Bedmar, the game challenges players to move through compact courses as efficiently as possible, using carefully placed geometric objects to manipulate momentum. The concept is easy to understand within minutes, but executing a genuinely fast run requires considerably more practice. The defining feature is the interaction between shooting and movement. Different polyhedrons scattered around each course produce effects that can influence the player's trajectory, with green icosahedrons providing an impulse when struck. Learning how these objects behave is only the beginning. The real challenge is figuring out when to shoot them, where to position yourself beforehand, and how to carry the resulting momentum into the next section. A successful run becomes a continuous sequence of aiming, firing, jumping, accelerating, and correcting your direction without unnecessarily slowing down. This system gives the game a satisfying skill curve. Early attempts can feel messy as missed shots or poorly judged movements interrupt the flow, but repetition gradually turns unfamiliar courses into sequences that can almost be performed from memory. Small improvements matter because the objective is not merely to reach the end. Players are encouraged to complete stages faster, optimize their routes, and pursue increasingly difficult rankings, including the coveted SS rank. Global leaderboards provide another layer of competition for anyone interested in comparing optimized runs and pushing beyond personal records. The first-person perspective adds considerable intensity to the platforming. At high speed, players must judge distances while simultaneously keeping their crosshair positioned accurately enough to activate the next object. This creates moments where movement and shooting become inseparable. Missing one important target can cost valuable momentum, while hitting several objects in perfect succession produces an excellent sense of rhythm. The controls therefore reward consistency rather than random aggression, and improvement comes from understanding the physics just as much as improving raw aiming ability. Its minimalist visual direction complements this design nicely. Clean environments and strongly colored geometric objects make important gameplay elements recognizable even when the player is traveling quickly. The presentation does not overwhelm the screen with unnecessary detail, which is valuable in a game where a fraction of a second can matter. The abstract aesthetic also gives the experience a distinct identity without distracting from the courses themselves. Much of the visual excitement comes naturally from rapidly navigating an environment rather than from elaborate effects or cinematic sequences. Replayability is one of the strongest parts of the package. A player can technically clear a course and continue onward, but doing so ignores much of what makes the game engaging. Returning to a stage after understanding its layout can reveal shortcuts, better trajectories, or opportunities to preserve more speed. Achievements, statistics, rankings, and leaderboards provide additional incentives to continue improving. With 45 Steam achievements available, completion-focused players also have a substantial collection of objectives to pursue alongside faster times. The narrow focus can also be its biggest limitation. Anyone looking for a conventional shooter filled with weapons, enemies, story sequences, exploration, or character progression will find a very different experience here. Repetition is fundamental to the design, since mastering a level can require restarting it many times…
This game is fun and addicting. Mechanics are easy to understand but hard to master. Might be hard at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes super fun! Definitely recommend getting if you're looking for fun game with competitive leaderboard.
