Pickochet delivers an entertaining combination of incremental progression, automated mining, and physics-inspired action, transforming the familiar process of collecting resources into something more visually engaging. Developed by kron and drunken goat and published by Midware Games, the game revolves around breaking ore deposits, earning currency, and investing profits into increasingly effective mining equipment. Its defining feature is the use of ricocheting pickaxes that bounce between targets, creating a satisfying chain of impacts while gradually automating the player's workload. Although its premise is simple, the combination of steady upgrades, colorful presentation, and escalating productivity makes it an appealing choice for enthusiasts of casual incremental games. The gameplay begins with straightforward manual mining, requiring players to strike ore deposits to generate their initial earnings. As resources accumulate, new upgrades become available, allowing mining operations to expand beyond basic clicking. The introduction of bouncing pickaxes significantly changes the experience because players can watch their equipment repeatedly strike nearby deposits without constant intervention. This creates an enjoyable transition from active participation to increasingly automated production. There is something inherently satisfying about seeing multiple pickaxes ricochet around the environment, gradually transforming a modest operation into a lively display of resource collection. The mechanics are easy to understand, making the game accessible even to players unfamiliar with incremental progression systems. One of the more interesting elements is the upgrade tree, which encourages players to consider how they want to improve their mining efficiency. Rather than offering nothing but straightforward numerical increases, the progression system includes abilities and unusual effects that introduce variety into the mining process. Certain mechanics incorporate elements of chance, including dice rolls and coin flips, adding a playful dimension to resource generation. These systems encourage experimentation, although some upgrades naturally become more attractive than others as players discover efficient combinations. The most rewarding moments occur when several improvements work together, producing noticeable increases in mining speed and income. However, the strategic depth remains relatively modest, and players seeking complicated economic management may find the available decisions somewhat limited. The ricochet mechanic is undoubtedly the game's strongest feature because it provides immediate visual feedback for progression. Many incremental games communicate advancement almost entirely through rapidly increasing numbers, but Pickochet makes improvements visible through the movement and activity of its mining equipment. As additional pickaxes enter the environment, the screen becomes increasingly energetic, making automated resource gathering entertaining to observe. The physics-inspired interactions also introduce an element of unpredictability that helps prevent every mining session from feeling identical. Nevertheless, the novelty gradually diminishes after extended play, particularly when progression begins emphasizing familiar upgrade patterns rather than introducing substantially different mechanics. Visually, the game adopts a charming pixel-art style that suits its uncomplicated design. The colorful ore deposits, animated equipment, and lively mining environments establish a playful atmosphere without requiring elaborate graphical technology. The visual presentation is especially effective when multiple pickaxes are active simultaneously, creating an entertaining spectacle of movement and destruction. The interface generally communicates essential information clearly, although increasing numbers of effects and upgrades can make certain moments visually crowded. Fortunately, the relatively straightforward p…
Love this game! A great twist on the classic idle clicker genre with its own charming theme! The abilities are super fun to use and chain together for massive payouts, and the upgrade/ability trees feel very rewarding! Can't wait to see more!
Fun little clicker that you don't really even have to click, the pickochets do the work for you, although clicking does hurry things along. Recommended.
