Only You

The English translation is disappointing. Some chinese texts are not translated, pronouns are wrong from time to time (he/good boy/the man being used at multiple times when it is girls in the scene) or awkward You's, My's and I's that don't fit the context of the scene/text. There's a lot of typos or weird forms of speech, sometimes quotation marks are randomly thrown anywhere, sometimes Renpy console errors appear in the text box which has you guessing what the original sentence was. Now for the game itself: Lots of CG reuse. MC's (Xinyao) dialog is a bit awkward in that it feels very chuuni (I understand the MC is an otaku, but even so...) which makes a bit hard to go through sometimes. Also about MC's voice, the mic sometimes sounds a bit... when she speaks loudly. I would've cut some time away from MC's section because it felt repetitive and flat at points from all the CG reuse. Still, even though I saw the Xiyue plot twist coming and felt more surprised by how forgetful MC was to not realize it. I liked seeing Xiyue's thoughts a lot! I only wish it didn't end there and we actually saw more, it felt like an abrupt end compared to the 'ending' Xiyue was hyping up to.

Lets address the elephant in the room right off the bat. Yes, the English translation is very rough at some parts (it even becomes a string of letters & numbers at a few points). Yes, the sound mixing is bad at certain points, especially when the character Yun is shouting the mic peaks & is shrill. BUT if you can get past that this yuri vn is engaging and the story is very interesting. Its told from both of the mc's perspectives so you have to basically read it twice but I think that gives it a more complete picture when you learn what each girl's motivations are for their actions. If you like yuri vns and you are willing to put in a little extra work deciphering a few badly translated sections I highly recommend it.

In this visual novel there are no choices, you just watch the story unfold. The story is told in a multitude of POVs to give you the full picture, the order in which these POVs unfold is amazing for the story telling. Without spoilers, all I can say is that there are many twists. Don't trust anyone, other than that it is an amazing visual novel and now my expectations are higher for my next one. PS: This is what you call toxic yuri so some dark themes are present. In the end you'll be flabbergasted to see that both parties are exactly where they want to be.
