This is a fun game that gets straight to the core concept, which is figuring out which treasure chests are real and which treasure chests are mimics. This is done via the mimics always lying, and the real chests always telling the truth. There will be a set of treasure chests, all making different statements, and it's up to you figure out which are liars. The trickiness of the statements, the number of mimics, the amount of chests, etc, gets progressively harder. Other modes which twist the rules come, too. That's the core gameplay, but there is an RPG element to it too (after all this is specifically about mimics, a classic RPG enemy). I would call the RPG elements 'light' in that the combat is extremely basic, but it's still an important part of the gameplay which can't be ignored, because you will die against the final boss of a run if you don't keep on top of your gear and stats and curatives. I think some players might be a bit off-put by this element of the game if they were only expecting the puzzle aspect. I have also seen some players unhappy about the timer aspect (you die if you spend too long without eating so you are encouraged to be quick). But I would say, both these elements are important for making the game worth playing over and over. They make it into playing this game with the more engaging question of 'will I win this run?', rather than the more laid back idea of 'I will solve some puzzles for a while', which will inevitably get boring. To explain this more, consider that you don't have to open all of the chests and can move on if you get stuck. Consider also that (as the game warns you very early on), not all puzzles can be fully solved, due to insufficient information or having statements which create multiple solutions of which only one can be true. However, the more chests you open, the more gold and gear and relics, etc, you find, giving you a better chance in combat. Therefore, you are really encouraged to try and solve the puzzles which CAN be solved, to make up for all the chests you can't risk opening in unsolvable puzzles. Similarly, the quicker you go, the less gold you will need to spend on eating and the more you can spend on gear and stats, and the more time you have to spend on puzzles that are stumping you. It all ties together into a system that rewards you for doing as much as you can as fast as you can. Again, I feel the puzzle element alone in isolation misses all of this and makes for a more disposable experience, and I think people criticising the game for the additional elements are missing the point. So this is both me praising the elements working together, and also trying to encourage people who feel off-put by the RPG elements and the timer to instead try and appreciate them. I have some issues with the game: -Your gut (hunger) stat is essentially the games timer, yet it's hidden in the two situations where you would most want to see it: when you're solving puzzles, and when you're selecting which food to eat from your items menu. -I can think of no reason why you ever wouldn't eat your candy (which raises your stats), so I'm not sure why it isn't immediately eaten upon pick-up. You do get to press a button that automatically eats all of your candy in some contexts, but that this option exists only serves my point. Maybe it becomes optimal to sell some candies, or maybe some candies I haven't found yet have downsides. -There are some translation issues in English, which is obviously a big deal in the context of true or false statements made by the chests/mimics. So far I have encountered two, which I have to keep in mind whenever I read them, and I hope there are no more. -There is meta-progression, which I rarely enjoy or see the value in for any game. It always feels to me like you're not playing the 'real' game until you have everything, and then are finally entering each run with the same set of rules. This is a personal issue though, and I understand plenty of p…
