Only get on sale (same goes for all Jackbox packs). It was really a smash hit at a family gathering and I keep getting requested to bring this with me. However, it's pretty lame seeing many of the same questions come back - and according to my achievements, I haven't even seen them all.
It's fun enough - you can get 10 dollars worth of entertainment out of this, with friends. With no friends, it's like a selection of excerpts from very bad Wikipedia articles. Some people might like that, I don't judge.
Fibbage XL is a sharp, laugh-driven party game that distills Jackbox Games’ talent for social design into one of the most approachable and consistently funny multiplayer experiences on Steam. Rather than testing raw trivia knowledge, it celebrates creativity, timing, and the subtle art of deception, turning obscure facts into a playground for bluffing and social mind games. The result is a title that feels less like a traditional video game and more like a digital party activity—one that thrives on shared laughter and quick-witted improvisation. The premise is delightfully simple. Players are presented with an incomplete or unusual trivia prompt and must invent a believable lie to fill in the blank. Once all the answers are collected—alongside the real one—everyone votes on what they think is correct. Points are awarded both for identifying the truth and for tricking others into choosing your fabricated response. This dual scoring system creates a clever tension: you’re rewarded for knowledge, but just as often for psychological insight and comedic instinct. A perfectly crafted lie that sounds plausible yet funny can outperform genuine trivia expertise, making every round feel unpredictable and inclusive. What truly elevates Fibbage XL is how naturally it fosters social interaction. The game shines brightest in group settings, where players can read the room, tailor their lies to specific friends, and laugh at the audacity of answers that almost fooled everyone. Because the humor comes from the players themselves rather than scripted jokes, the experience adapts to any crowd—clever and subtle with some groups, chaotic and ridiculous with others. The pacing is snappy, keeping rounds short enough that no one feels left behind, while the steady escalation of absurdity keeps energy high. Accessibility is another major strength. Players join using their phones, tablets, or keyboards, eliminating the need for extra controllers and making it easy to include large groups with minimal setup. This design choice lowers the barrier to entry, allowing even non-gamers to participate comfortably. The interface is clean and intuitive, with clear prompts and feedback that guide newcomers without interrupting the flow. A family-friendly filter further broadens its appeal, allowing hosts to tailor the experience for mixed-age gatherings without losing the core fun. The presentation supports the gameplay without overshadowing it. The visual style is simple and readable, ensuring that the focus remains on the answers and reactions rather than flashy effects. The host’s voice acting adds personality and timing, delivering prompts and results with a light, playful tone that enhances the comedic rhythm. Music and sound cues punctuate key moments, subtly reinforcing tension during voting and payoff during reveals without becoming distracting. That said, Fibbage XL is unapologetically dependent on its social context. Played alone or with an unengaged group, the experience can fall flat, as the humor and excitement are almost entirely generated by player interaction. Over very long sessions, some players may notice repeated patterns in the trivia structure, though the sheer unpredictability of human-generated lies usually keeps things fresh. The game isn’t designed for progression or mastery in the traditional sense; its longevity comes from rotating groups and different social dynamics rather than unlocks or campaigns. Ultimately, Fibbage XL succeeds because it understands what makes party games memorable: shared moments, spontaneous laughter, and the thrill of outsmarting friends in small, hilarious ways. It doesn’t ask players to be experts or strategists—only to be imaginative and a little bit sneaky. For game nights, casual gatherings, or online hangouts where conversation and humor matter more than competition, it remains one of Jackbox Games’ most reliable and entertaining offerings, proving that sometimes the best fun comes from telling…
