Had real fun with Demonschool. Cozy vibes, not too dramatic story (even if it's demon apocalypse) and a lot of colourful characters. Battle gameplay is one of the most engaging turn-based combat system i've seen. Even after what felt like over a hundred battles, i was still having fun. I wasn't too lazy about keeping turn quota and upgrading my team with new skills. Even flagship party-turn-based RPGs like Persona and Final Fantasy didn't have that for me. The only downside i can think of is the overwhelming gamelength and concentration of fights. I've seen reviews that put many people off. Otherwise, i can recommend at least giving it a try!

I really want to recommend this game and say how good it is, but it has some major flaws. The first major one is an overabundance of battles. The combat itself is good, but at the same time really boring—I was already tired of it by week six. If the game didn’t have about 60% of its battles, it would be much more enjoyable. The second flaw is the characters. Yes, there are a lot of them—a lot—but ultimately they feel like copycats of previous characters with minor tweaks. For example, there’s Knute, who heals 1 HP and buffs ATK if HP is full, and there’s Ocean, who heals 2 HP but doesn’t buff. What I’m getting at is: if different characters had unique mechanics and did completely diifrent things, I wouldn’t have gotten tired of the combat so quickly. The last flaw—a minor one—is the music. (I know this is subjective, but still.) There are only about what feels like five or eight different tracks, and they slowly eat away at your brain until you just can’t take it anymore. (I'm sorry, music composer.) But overall, I enjoyed the game and its lighthearted story. It’s nothing special, but it’s good, and the character writing is spot-on. And the style is just perfect. If you’re expecting something along the lines of the first Persona games—especially Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment—then this isn’t it. Overall, if you don't care about the flaws and you just want to get familiar with the small interactions between the characters and see the story with your own eyes, you've found the game, if you're looking for a good strategic combat, then this is not the game. Overall, I’d give it a 6.5/10, but if all these flaws weren’t present, it would be a solid 8.
