What an atmospheric game! Tron esque. 80's themed throughout with a touch of Italian spice. Now works good on Steam Frame native.
ARK and ADE is a high-energy virtual reality shooter that fully commits to the idea of blending classic arcade design with modern VR immersion. Developed by Castello Inc and published by Beyond Frames, the game is clearly inspired by the neon-soaked sci-fi aesthetics and relentless action of 1980s arcade cabinets, but it reinterprets those influences through physical movement, spatial awareness, and tactile gunplay. From the moment you step into its stylized digital world, the game makes its intentions clear: this is a fast, flashy, and unapologetically arcade-driven experience built around reflexes, spectacle, and replayability rather than narrative complexity. At its core, ARK and ADE is about constant motion and pressure. Enemies pour in from all directions, forcing players to stay alert and reactive while navigating compact arenas and corridors filled with incoming fire. Unlike traditional flat-screen shooters, the VR format adds a physical dimension to combat, where dodging, aiming, and repositioning feel directly connected to the player’s own movements. The game offers multiple locomotion options, including smooth movement, teleportation, and dash-style blinking, allowing players to tailor the experience to their comfort level. This flexibility makes the game accessible to both VR newcomers and veterans while maintaining the intensity required for its arcade roots. Gunplay is one of the strongest elements of the experience. Weapons feel punchy and responsive, with a satisfying sense of impact that is amplified by the VR perspective. As you progress, your arsenal expands through power-ups and upgrades that transform basic firearms into more destructive tools, such as shotguns, rapid-fire weapons, explosive launchers, and energy-based guns. Each weapon type encourages a slightly different playstyle, and the game pushes you to adapt on the fly as situations escalate. The inclusion of slow-motion mechanics adds another layer of strategy, allowing players to briefly manipulate time to line up shots, evade dense bullet patterns, or clear overwhelming waves in cinematic fashion. Enemy encounters are designed less around tactical AI and more around volume, speed, and visual clarity. Opponents are easy to read and quick to identify, which suits the arcade philosophy of immediate feedback and fast decision-making. While enemy behaviors are relatively straightforward, the sheer number of threats and the density of projectiles ensure that combat remains challenging. Boss encounters emphasize spectacle, scale, and pattern recognition rather than complex mechanics, delivering climactic moments that feel like the final stages of an old-school arcade run. Although these fights can feel familiar after repeated playthroughs, they still succeed in reinforcing the game’s retro identity. ARK and ADE offers several gameplay modes that extend its longevity beyond a single run. A structured arcade-style mode provides a clear progression through levels, while arena and endless modes focus on survival, score chasing, and mastery of mechanics. These modes encourage replayability, especially for players who enjoy refining their performance, climbing leaderboards, and unlocking achievements. The game’s scoring systems and difficulty options cater to competitive players while still allowing casual sessions for those who simply want a burst of adrenaline-fueled action. Visually and aurally, the game is unapologetically bold. Neon colors, geometric environments, and glowing enemies create a striking retro-futuristic look that feels tailor-made for VR. The visual clarity ensures that even chaotic firefights remain readable, which is crucial in a genre where split-second reactions matter. The soundtrack leans heavily into synth-driven, high-tempo tracks that perfectly complement the on-screen action, reinforcing the sensation of being inside a living arcade machine. Optional support for haptic accessories further enhances immersion, making every…
A TRON-like Bullet-Hell VR Shooter That Is Extremely Fun! If you're a fan of stylish, high-octane bullet-hell arcade VR shooters, ARK & ADE is a must-play. The game impressed me right from the start with its TRON-like visual style, delivering a neon-drenched aesthetic that is both modern and nostalgic. The way you get sucked into the arcade cabinet from the basement, was just super cool to see in VR. The vibrant colors and simplistic graphics perfectly complement the fast-paced arcade gameplay and looks very pleasing in VR. Shooting Mechanics & Enemies The arcade-style shooting mechanics are very satisfying in this game that give nods to various arcade games from the 80s and 90s. Weapons are given to you like Metal Slug, shoot the upgrade powerup in the air and you will receive the new weapon with limited ammo. Once the ammo is depleted, you get your main pistol blaster back. The difficulty is fair, striking a perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment. There are lots of enemies to shoot and enemy types have quite a lot of variance ranging from normal humanoid beings armed with laser pistols and shotguns to drones that shoot rockets at you. The game keeps you on your toes without feeling too overwhelming. Boss Fights There are boss fights in ARK & ADE which are a highlight of the game, providing some of the most engaging and fun moments. Each boss encounter is uniquely designed for that particular level that give good variety to the gameplay and visuals. Boss fights are well designed and feel satisfying when you complete them. Gamemode Variety The game offers a rich variety of content. With numerous levels to conquer, an endless mode that plays like Pistol Whip, and a survival mode where you battle waves of enemies in an arena, there's plenty to keep you engaged. Each mode adds its own unique twist, ensuring the gameplay remains fresh and exciting. bHaptics Integration ARK & ADE has one of the best utilization of bHaptics I have encountered. Right from the moment when you select a level and you get sucked into the machine, the vibration of the vest and what is happening is VERY cool and gives a sensation that you are actually getting sucked into the machine. The vest vibrates as if your clothing is fluttering in the wind as you travel quickly forward into the machine. This alone is extremely cool and causes a bit of a thrill. Overall Overall, ARK & ADE stands out as a top-tier arcade VR shooter. Its stylish visuals, fair difficulty, and diverse modes make it a game that keeps me coming back to. Highly recommended for anyone looking to immerse themselves in a visually striking and action-packed experience.
