雨上がりのハナビィ Ameagari no Hanaby

This is a really cute game. Very easy, but 100%ing is tedious. Took me a while to find all the upgrades. I'm experiencing vertical screen tearing for some reason, but it's not a huge deal. Simple but fun combat, fun platforming, and great music.

While searching for good squirrel games, I found Hanaby trilogy. I've discovered it too late, as so many years has passed after Ameagari no Hanaby's release, but I hope that it's not too late to write a review. Good nuts: - Hanaby is one of the most adorable and sweet squirrels I've ever seen, and it's a really good thing she has a personality NOT revolving around nuts or acorns (it's fireworks instead). - Fireworks as a weapon is both an original and beautiful way to eradicate enemies. - Jumping and hovering around is entertaining and not too hard even on later levels. - Levels look very pretty, detailed and full of colors, while always presenting something unexpected, such as space factory, public bath and theme park. - Music by AAAA is a masterpiece, a whole bunch of bangers that sound lively and fit the surroundings perfectly. - Lots of cute furry NPCs to talk with - A few sudden and cute adult jokes, including a whole adult level Not very good nuts: - Prices in shops are too high, probably to justify NG+, but still - NG+ just ups the damage you receive and do nothing else interesting, the only thing you get is a few Steam achievements - There's literally only one NPC that walks (swims) around, all of the others are glued to the floor - The game is just way too short, can be beaten in an hour (two, if you try to find all secrets, or three if you grind money to buy everything) Overall, it's simple yet brilliant game that's full of inspiration and lifts the mood with its light-hearted story, casual gameplay, beautiful scenery and energetic music. It's short, but at least there are three more Hanaby game that allows to extend our time with lovely squirrel and her awesome fireworks.
