I just came from playing Super Cyborg and this contra run and gun like game is not that good. The controls feel a bit floaty and some of the sound effects are annoying like Ice gun level 1 , but eventually especially with later levels, the game just gets annoying. Bosses have almost none to no tells about their abilities and there's no way to dodge some if they just spawn on top of you as well as enemies. It's not so much about skill but pure luck at points with how the enemies can just spawn on top of you. I would love to give this a mixed review but, it's been more , not so fun towards the end then fun.
Alien Strike: Blasting the Intruders delivers a fast and deliberately old-school run-and-gun experience built around constant movement, heavy firepower, and increasingly chaotic encounters with alien forces. Developed by Combo Game Studio and published by Nuntius Games and Vsoo Games, it takes clear inspiration from classic arcade shooters without burying the action beneath complicated progression systems. Its strongest quality is immediacy. Within moments, the player is running through hostile environments, dodging attacks, grabbing weapons, and turning groups of extraterrestrial enemies into showers of pixelated destruction. The movement system gives the combat much of its energy. Characters can run, jump, slide, climb cables, and shoot in eight directions, allowing enemies to attack from multiple elevations without making the controls unnecessarily restrictive. Sliding is particularly useful because it provides another way to reposition quickly when projectiles begin filling the screen. The result is combat that encourages players to remain mobile rather than finding a comfortable location and firing continuously. Once several enemy types appear together, successful play becomes a satisfying rhythm of shooting, jumping, repositioning, and reacting to threats. Weapons provide more depth than the straightforward arcade structure initially suggests. Players can carry two weapons simultaneously and switch between them depending on the situation. This creates simple tactical decisions without interrupting the pace. A weapon suited to clearing groups can be paired with something more effective against tougher targets, for example. One of the more interesting mechanics involves obtaining another copy of a weapon already being carried. Matching weapons can produce an enhanced X version, rewarding players with greater offensive power and making duplicate pickups genuinely desirable instead of redundant. Special attacks complement this system by providing another reason to fight aggressively. Defeating enemies fills a special meter that can eventually be spent on a powerful attack capable of devastating large groups. The mechanic creates useful decisions during difficult sections. Spending the attack immediately provides breathing room, while holding it for a particularly dangerous encounter can produce much greater value. When upgraded weapons, regular gunfire, enemy projectiles, and special attacks all appear simultaneously, the game achieves the exaggerated arcade spectacle its concept promises. Boss battles act as important tests of everything learned during the regular stages. Large enemies rely on recognizable attack patterns and force players to pay attention to positioning instead of relying exclusively on firepower. Dodging becomes just as important as dealing damage, particularly when multiple projectiles or attacks restrict safe movement. These confrontations give the campaign necessary peaks in intensity and prevent the standard enemy encounters from becoming the only source of challenge. Local cooperative play is another major attraction, supporting as many as three players at once. The additional players transform already hectic battles into wonderfully messy firefights, while the ability to share weapons and upgrades gives cooperation a practical purpose. Coordinating pickups can help a group create a stronger collective arsenal instead of having everyone compete blindly for equipment. Remote Play Together support also expands the possibilities for enjoying the cooperative component when everyone cannot physically play on the same PC. Visually, the game commits to colorful pixel art and a retro science-fiction atmosphere. Explosions, weapon effects, alien creatures, industrial environments, and oversized enemies maintain the feeling of an arcade production without demanding realistic graphics. The presentation is functional where it matters most: enemies and attacks need to remain readable while the screen bec…
