Virtual Home Theater VR Video Player

I just wanted to watch Guardians of the Galaxy in 3D. There are so many players out there that are pure garbage. They either want you to pay for some codecs, refuse to play the video files at all, nag you with data collection screens or have a subpar VR experience. This software just works. I opened it, loaded the black environment (the one that doesn't have any scenery), hid the speaker icons that floated around in the scenery and watched the movie. It's amazing and there are so many options - you can curve the screen, adjust its size and position, recenter it or even stick it to the center of your VR LCD's so your head movement doesn't get tracked anymore (because that can be a bit annoying). This software is pretty pricey, but the price is very well-deserved. It can play seemingly all of the file formats I have. SBS, Half-SBS, OU, 360°... The only thing it cannot do is play BluRay discs directly, due to licensing issues. But that's not the fault of the developer and it's totally fine, because you can convert your discs to a useable file format with MakeMKV or other tools. I only wish there was a real cinema as an included environment. The default environment with a grey ceiling is very barebones and honestly looks like absolute ass. :D You can probably build your own in Blender and import it, but that's outside of my skillset. tl:dr; It's really, really good.

Extensiv options for audio, video and rendering. Best player so far for 2D and 3D. It takes some time to figure everything out but after that it is easy to use.

I can't recommend this enough. It is quite superb. Imagine your VR headset creates a cinema screen. It not only plays high res videos but also 3d movies. You're able to watch 3d movies without the drawbacks of the glasses affecting picture quality. Alternatively perhaps you'd like to watch the Godfather in Imax. You can do this here too. There's also the ability to use this as a VR desktop although I can't say I really bother. One thing I have done is stereoscopic photography with two rigged digital hasselblads on a single tripod. Here I can then take these 50 megapixel files and view them. The shots of the paintings in the galleries are particularly extraordinary as I can effectively walk up to them and view them again. A few suggestions for the future - it would be nice if there was support for my 4k discs of which I have hundreds and hundreds, and standard blu-ray/dvd. I'd pay extra for the codecs as would a lot of people I think. It would also be great if we could have some classic cinemas as environments.
