Around 3 hours in and only one page finished, and I'm already completely charmed by this game. ♡ This little delight is such a creative experience, somewhere between a digital journal and a cozy scrapbook, all set inside a cottage. You have so much freedom to make each page your own. You can write whatever you like and customize the text with different fonts, while your own pictures can be added to make everything much more personal. There are plenty of decorations to play around with, and you'll find even more hidden around the desk and surroundings. Everything has such a fairytale feel to it. I especially love how cozy the whole setting is, with the option to change the weather and music depending on what kind of mood you're in. You also get messages from time to time, which are such a cute touch to the whole experience. One of my favourite things is the atmosphere. The music and ambient sounds are sooo beautiful and calming that I actually started getting sleepy while playing, and I mean that in the best way possible. I completely lost track of time just sitting there decorating and enjoying how peaceful everything felt. It's very simple at its core, and that's exactly why I enjoyed it so much. There's no pressure to do anything a certain way, just a cozy space where you can slow down and make something completely your own. The Merry Fairy is a scrapbook journal simulator set inside an enchanted cottage. You decorate journal pages with artwork, quotes, prompts, tape and other pieces while changing things like the weather, music and lighting to make the space your own. Pros ✔️ The atmosphere is extremely relaxing - Changing the weather and time of day, putting on music, lighting candles and just sitting inside the cottage makes it easy to set the space up for whatever feels comfortable. ✔️ There is a LOT to scrapbook with - Quotes, stickers, trees, hearts, tape, prompts, affirmations and all kinds of other artwork give you plenty to mess around with without needing to buy actual craft supplies. ✔️ It works really well in the background - By the end I was basically using it while having a conversation, and that fit it perfectly. It works just as well for journaling or making something as it does for just having a cozy little space open beside you. Cons ❌ It is going to be very niche - The game straight up tells you there are no challenges, and that is important. If you need objectives, progression or something to beat, there really is not much of that here. ❌ Some of the ambient audio can be a bit much - The bird in particular got a very strong "stop bird, stop it" reaction out of me. For something built around relaxing, a few sounds could use a little balancing. ❌ I cannot pet the box - Everything on this magical desk wants me to poke it except the tiny box creature, apparently. This is a crime and did affect the score. Conclusion The Merry Fairy feels less like something I need to finish and more like a little digital space I can come back to when I want to make something or just wind down for a bit. Scrapbooking makes a lot more sense to me in this format too because I can experiment with everything without buying a mountain of supplies first. I can easily see myself leaving it open while working on something else or just talking with people. I picked this game up during the summer sale and somehow left it sitting in my library without opening it. I finally gave it a try this morning, and I’m so glad I did! There are so many cute little things you can do, like changing the weather, collecting stickers, and writing your own journals. I really love all the different stickers, too. There are flowers, plants, vintage-style ones, and so many other cute designs. I honestly want to collect them all! The stickers actually reminded me of something from when I was little. I used to love collecting candy wrappers because I thought they were too pretty to throw away. I guess I’ve always liked collecting little cute things. 🥹 So being able to collect all these little stickers in the game feels strangely nostalgic. I just wrote my very first journal today, and I even learned how to upload my own photos into the game. I love that I can make the journal feel like my own little scrapbook and fill it with things I like. Everything feels so relaxing and personal. You can just take your time, collect stickers, decorate your pages, write in your journal, change the weather, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. What I love the most about this game is that it doesn’t feel like you have to accomplish anything or rush through anything. It’s more like having a tiny little space that you can slowly make your own. I’m really glad I finally opened this game, and I can already tell it’s going to be one of those little games I come back to whenever I want to slow down and enjoy some quiet time.
