Super short horror-themed comedy game. Honestly, I thought the game was entertaining and unique for the price-point. I managed to get through the game without enabling "super easy mode" until the last level. You get a limited number of talismans, and it just seems impossible to make it through the level without using them all perfectly.
A really silly over the top Japanese comedy horror. A lot of action is happening all the time and then it's over, feeling too short. Still a good time. It has a ridiculously easy mode. For achievement hunters: Kick 4 things with E at the start of the game and finish it.
The Clingy Ghost, developed and published by AlleyInn, is a short-form horror adventure that thrives on personality, pacing, and a playful sense of self-awareness. Rather than attempting to deliver prolonged dread or complex survival mechanics, the game opts for a tightly structured experience that blends spooky atmosphere with constant humor, resulting in something closer to an interactive horror-comedy episode than a traditional full-length horror game. This deliberate focus on brevity and tone defines nearly every aspect of the experience. The premise is simple but effective. You play as a professional exorcist sent to cleanse a haunted house, a task that initially feels routine but quickly escalates into chaos. The house itself becomes the central stage, filled with unsettling visuals, sudden disturbances, and supernatural events that steadily increase in intensity as you push deeper inside. The objective is clear—reach the shrine and complete the exorcism—but the journey is constantly interrupted by unexpected scares and bizarre encounters that keep the momentum strong. Gameplay centers on first-person exploration with light action elements layered in. Movement and interaction are straightforward, allowing players to focus on environmental awareness and timing rather than complicated systems. Occasional chase sequences and reaction-based moments inject urgency, while dash mechanics and scripted encounters add variety to what could otherwise be simple hallway traversal. The game doesn’t rely on puzzles or inventory management; instead, it emphasizes flow, guiding players forward while ensuring there is always something happening on screen to maintain engagement. What truly elevates The Clingy Ghost above a standard indie horror short is its character work, particularly the presence of your ghostly companion, Ryuji. Rather than serving as a silent observer, Ryuji is constantly talking—joking, complaining, panicking, and offering commentary on the absurdity of the situation. This constant dialogue transforms the experience, breaking tension at just the right moments and preventing the horror from becoming oppressive. The banter between protagonist and ghost gives the game a distinct anime-inspired energy that feels intentional and well-paced rather than distracting. The horror itself is handled with a clear sense of balance. Jump scares are frequent and unapologetic, but they are rarely cruel or punishing. Instead of aiming to terrify the player into paralysis, the game uses scares as punctuation marks—sharp moments that spike adrenaline before quickly releasing the tension through humor or dialogue. This approach makes the game accessible to players who may not normally enjoy pure horror titles, while still delivering enough surprise and unease to satisfy fans of spooky experiences. Visually, the game leans into a grounded haunted-house aesthetic enhanced by stylized lighting and effects. Environments are detailed enough to feel immersive without being cluttered, and the use of darkness and narrow spaces helps create tension even in the absence of active threats. Sound design plays an equally important role, with creaking floors, sudden noises, and well-timed audio stingers amplifying the impact of scares. Voice acting is a standout element, giving both the protagonist and Ryuji a strong sense of identity and emotional range that carries much of the game’s charm. One of the most defining aspects of The Clingy Ghost is its length. Designed to be completed in roughly half an hour, it is clearly intended as a single-sitting experience. This tight runtime works in the game’s favor, ensuring that the pacing never drags and that every scene feels purposeful. There is little downtime, no unnecessary backtracking, and no filler content. However, this also means replay value is limited. Once the story concludes, there are few incentives to return beyond revisiting favorite moments or sharing the experience with others. Bec…
