Tavern Talk 2: Dreamwalker

Almost as good as the first game. I liked the characters in the first game a bit more but the drink mixing was also a lot better in this one. If you played the first one, or Coffee talk, then you know what to expect. It's a visual novel where you run a Tavern and have adventurers come in-between quests. The dialogue change very little, instead your interactions with the plot and characters is making the correct drink for them and thus changing the story for each character. It's a prequel and has some of the same characters, both as your customers and as background characters. I think you definitly should play the first game since there are some neat character lore you can figure out that are not outright stated. But it is a completely stand alone story, so it's not manditory. It still have the same occasional real life joke and reference like in the first game, that feels out of place in a fantasy setting, It sort of feel like 4th wall breaks that players of a pen and paper campaign would sometimes do, not sure if that is inteanded or not but I kind of wish they drop them, but it's a very minor gripe and they are pretty few, I'm definitly down for more games in this series. Completion requires at least 3 full playthroughts (the neutral ending can be done if you save close to the end). The endings are pretty much the same as the first, one where the heroes lose and the world ends, one glorious victory and one that's a bit bittersweet, you will likely get the neutral the first time since both the good and bad require almost 100 % correct or wrong on all the quest related drinks. But you can speed through the seen text fairly quickly and just do the drinks,

If you like a dungeon and dragons-esque game, you would totally like this! though it is dialogue heavy so if you might have a short attention span or just dont wanna read much in a game, you can just play this in sections but it is very addictive.

The first tavern talk is superior to dreamwalker in about every way. The drink making, characters, and dialogue are just better in the first. This game is also a lot shorter than the first one and honestly feels more like some kind of DLC. There is also significantly less world building in dreamwalker. The name of dreamwalker is also misleading as it implies a sequel, not a prequel, which may sound like a minor issue, but if you play this right after the first game, you will know the sad fates of most of the characters of dreamwalker and it makes playing it feel more hollow. There are also a lot less characters and the characters that are there have less of a variety of motivations as the first game.
