Swords and Sandals 3 Redux

Absolute BANGER of a Remake of a Undying Classic! Swords and Sandals 3 Redux - is a very faithful remake of the original SS3 - as well as it adds so much more on top of it all! It is a blast to go through. With all the class variety and build possibilities - this game can suck you in for many evenings, heh. (With Bard being the absolute Giga-chad as always) Really love the complexity this game has to offer. Full of all sorts of tiny things you can tinker with, like : Armor traits/buffs, character customization, armor customization, weapon variety and all sorts of other interesting things. One of the few things that I miss... I probably "Character Features" - was kinda fun adding horns to a Cyclops or Slimy Tentacle Ears to Skeletons lol And now... With SS3 Redux... It honestly makes me wonder and wish that we'd see Swords and Sandals 4 get a Redux as well. Despite it being not as popular - I think it has a very unique and fun vibe. There is not many Digital Tabletop Games like that. And considering SS4 relied heavily on SS3's visuals - I can only hold onto the hope - that it will be brought in as well :] But yea... I'd absolutely recommend this game to anyone who's into RPG's and loves Gladiator vibes heh

As a fan of the franchise for well over a decade, I really wanted to enjoy this game and see it through to completion. unfortunately, it very quickly becomes a chore to play. the gameplay loop of arena fights while being spiced up with conditions and different areas, still remains repetitive, dull and largely uninteresting. the experience is being carried in its entirety by the charm of these legendary characters and a strong sense of nostalgia I think the S&S concept can completely work in today's gaming landscape, but it desperately needs some major mechanical changes. it's current format may have worked well as a Flash browser game, but for a full standalone title, it simply feels too shallow and underdeveloped I still love this franchise, and despite all of this, I did have some fun with the game. I genuinely want Swords & Sandals to prosper and break into the mainstream, because I think the series has the potential to do so. I just don’t think it can reach that point in its current state.

TL;DR: Swords and Sandals 3 Redux offers what a S&S game offers, which is a ton of grinding, merciless battles, old-school roleplaying options, and a fair bit of nostalgia. The Swords & Sandals series, for me, is a really special one, as I grew up with it during the Flash days. Back then, I couldn't even beat the golden armored pig boss in S&S II, and here I enjoyed S&S once again in its Redux form. The S&S franchise is really old, and it has a style that includes a lot of outdated design choices; as a result, it may give first-time players an unexpected experience. It is full of RNG, grinding, and old-school roleplaying options, which may or may not appeal to you. I finished the game and collected all the achievements in about 23 hours. If you are an achievement hunter, get ready to have the fights over and over again, as well as grinding for hours. I did it with a decapitating RNG build, and it worked just fine. In the end, there is really not much to say about this title. If you are familiar with the franchise and want to enjoy it in a more modern form for nostalgia's sake, go for it. However, you should be ready for the merciless nature of the game as well as a ton of grinding.
