恋与未歇之雨 is a surprisingly thoughtful visual novel that I found myself getting more invested in as the story went on. I play as 阳, a young man who has lost part of his memory, and then meets 小雨, a girl who claims to be his childhood friend and girlfriend. I really liked that setup because the central mystery is not simply about what happened in the past, but whether the memories I am trying to recover can actually be trusted. The main gameplay is built around reading, conversations and making choices that shape the story. I enjoyed the slower pace because it gives the characters enough room to talk about their memories and relationship without constantly rushing toward another dramatic event. The choices also make me pay attention to how 阳 reacts to 小雨 and to the different situations they encounter while revisiting places connected to their shared past. The world itself is probably my favorite part of the story. The idea that reality changes to match what people believe is a really interesting foundation for a romance mystery. It creates a strange situation where personal memories and collective belief can both affect what is considered real. I liked how this philosophical idea gradually becomes more relevant to the relationship between the two main characters instead of simply being background lore. The relationship between 阳 and 小雨 is also handled in a way that kept me curious. Their journey is built around recovering shared memories, so even familiar romantic moments can feel uncertain because I am never completely sure how much of the past is genuine. I enjoyed that tension because it gives the romance a little more depth than a standard dating story. The colorful anime style and voiced dialogue also fit the emotional tone nicely. My biggest issue is that the experience can feel quite text heavy, and some of the pacing is slower than I would have liked. Because the story is so focused on dialogue and internal thoughts, there are stretches where I am mostly reading without much interaction. The lack of English support is another limitation for me, since the game is currently presented in Simplified Chinese for its interface, audio and subtitles. The two possible endings give the choices more weight and encourage me to think about how I want the story to unfold. I also liked that the experience is presented as a complete narrative with a prologue and later story material rather than feeling like a tiny unfinished introduction. There is a clear focus on romance and mystery, but the philosophical ideas about belief and reality give it a more unusual identity. Overall, 恋与未歇之雨 is a charming and surprisingly ambitious visual novel that combines romance, mystery and philosophical ideas in an interesting way. I liked the relationship between 阳 and 小雨, the strange rules of the world and the way the mystery slowly develops around their missing memories. The pacing is not always perfect and the language limitation makes it less accessible to me, but the story has enough personality and emotional weight to stand out. Rating: 6.9/10
恋与未歇之雨 is a reflective and emotionally driven visual novel that blends romance, psychological mystery, and philosophical fantasy into a surprisingly thoughtful narrative experience. While the game initially appears to follow the structure of a gentle romantic drama centered around forgotten memories and reunited companions, it gradually evolves into something far more introspective and emotionally layered. The story explores themes involving perception, identity, emotional truth, and the fragile relationship between memory and reality, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that constantly balances tenderness with quiet uncertainty. The narrative follows Yang, a protagonist struggling with fragmented memories and emotional confusion after awakening in a world that no longer feels entirely stable or familiar. Soon after, he reconnects with a girl named Xiaoyu, who claims to share a deep emotional history with him as both his childhood friend and romantic partner. Together they begin revisiting locations connected to their forgotten past in an attempt to uncover the truth behind Yang’s lost memories and the strange emotional inconsistencies surrounding their relationship. As the story unfolds, reality itself begins to feel increasingly unreliable, and the emotional bond between the two characters becomes intertwined with larger questions involving perception, belief, and subjective truth. One of the game’s greatest strengths is its atmosphere. The entire experience carries a calm but emotionally uneasy tone that constantly makes the world feel fragile and unstable. The narrative unfolds almost like a dream where ordinary moments are quietly distorted by uncertainty and emotional tension. Conversations frequently feel layered with hidden meaning, while the gradual recovery of memories transforms seemingly peaceful interactions into emotionally loaded encounters filled with doubt and introspection. The game rarely relies on dramatic twists or shocking reveals. Instead, it builds emotional weight slowly through mood, symbolism, and character vulnerability. The writing is mature and surprisingly philosophical for a smaller visual novel project. Rather than focusing entirely on romantic progression, the story spends significant time examining emotional dependency, memory, personal perception, and the way people construct their understanding of reality through belief and emotion. The central romance between Yang and Xiaoyu feels intimate and emotionally sincere because it develops gradually through quiet interactions and reflective dialogue rather than exaggerated melodrama. Their relationship constantly raises difficult emotional questions about whether feelings remain authentic when memories themselves may be unreliable or manipulated. Character writing is one of the most compelling aspects of the experience. Yang is portrayed as emotionally uncertain and psychologically vulnerable, making his search for truth feel deeply personal rather than purely plot-driven. His inability to fully trust his own memories creates constant emotional instability throughout the story. Xiaoyu, meanwhile, emerges as a far more layered character than she initially appears. At times she feels warm, affectionate, and comforting, while in other moments she carries an emotional ambiguity that suggests hidden pain or unresolved motives beneath her gentle personality. This uncertainty keeps the relationship emotionally engaging throughout the narrative. Visually, the game embraces a soft and nostalgic anime-inspired art direction that perfectly supports its emotional themes. Character portraits are expressive and carefully designed to emphasize emotional nuance during conversations and intimate scenes. Backgrounds often appear dreamlike or slightly detached from reality, reinforcing the story’s surreal atmosphere without relying on excessive fantasy spectacle. The color palette and lighting frequently create a calm but melancholic mood, making even ordinary…
