A game with unique characters and dialogues. Clearly written by a nerd (not derogatory). PROS - great original characters - no corny lines - amazing voice acting - great music - consistent art direction - lovely backgrounds - great atmosphere and vibes - polished look - interesting story - unpredictable story CONS - I wish i could control the character with WASD - puzzle game is quite weak (only 1) - more lit reference needed. <3 - a lot of pointless yapping when interacting with items - a lot of pointless interactions with items that don't serve the story - can not view items or paintings in close-up, can only hear character yap about them. (what if the paintings were metaphors??? what if they could contain foreshadowing???? references????????) - I wish the character's observations on his surroundings could be exhaustible so that I would not feel tempted to click on them again and then hear the same dialogue. Maybe the second time the observation could just show up as text when the mouse hovers over it. - creepiness factor is quite low (but forgiveable because mayhaps it's not the focus nor point) - a slight hint system would be nice - having to use the journal on the character whenever i need to access it (if there was a seperate tab for it, it'd be more convenient) OVERALL: loved this game. As an artist, would have loved to work on it.
I accidentaly pressed on New Game and lost all the game played.
Slender Threads: Prologue is an incredibly atmospheric, dark, and beautifully stylized point-and-click adventure thriller that hooks you within the first 30 minutes. You step into the shoes of Harvey Green, an eccentric and slightly cynical traveling author who arrives in the unsettling, foggy mountain town of Villa Ventana, only to immediately feel that something is deeply wrong with the local residents.Even a brief half-hour session is enough to appreciate what makes this indie project stand out. The hand-drawn art style is stunning, the voice acting is top-notch, and the game heavily channels the classic, nostalgic energy of old-school adventure gems while wrapping it in a sinister, Twin Peaks-esque blanket. The writing is sharp, witty, and perfectly balances dark humor with a creeping sense of underlying dread. While you won't get to solve the more complex late-game puzzles in a short sitting, the introductory sequence sets up the mystery flawlessly. As a completely free narrative slice that keeps your profile clean from incomplete tracker achievements, it is a magnificent recommendation for a quick gaming break.
