Slave Princess Finne, why did she sell out her own kingdom?, developed by Circle Fairy Flower and published by OTAKU Plan, is a narrative-heavy role-playing game that places its entire weight on character conflict and the consequences of choice. Rather than trying to stand out through mechanical innovation, it builds its identity around a morally charged premise, following a protagonist whose loyalty is constantly tested by her dual identity and the political tensions surrounding her. From the beginning, the game establishes a somber tone, framing its story within a world shaped by war, discrimination, and uneasy alliances. The central narrative revolves around Finne, a princess caught between two sides of a long-standing conflict between humans and elves. Her mixed heritage is not just a background detail but the driving force behind every major decision in the story. The game explores themes such as prejudice, betrayal, and sacrifice with a direct and often dramatic approach, presenting scenarios where there are no clear right answers. Player choices play a significant role in determining how events unfold, and the branching paths ensure that different playthroughs can lead to entirely different outcomes. This emphasis on choice adds a layer of engagement, as players are encouraged to consider the implications of their actions rather than simply progressing through a linear storyline. While the narrative is the primary focus, the gameplay follows a traditional structure typical of classic turn-based RPGs. Players explore towns and dungeons, engage in battles, and gradually strengthen their party through equipment and abilities. Combat is easy to understand, relying on familiar systems that prioritize accessibility over complexity. This makes it approachable for players who may not be deeply experienced with the genre, but it also means that encounters can start to feel repetitive over time. The inclusion of automated battle options helps streamline progression, especially for those who prefer to move through combat quickly in order to reach the next story segment. The world design supports the narrative by providing a steady flow of locations and events that keep the story moving forward. Exploration is relatively straightforward, with environments serving as backdrops for encounters and dialogue rather than expansive spaces filled with optional content. This approach keeps the pacing focused but can also make the gameplay feel secondary to the narrative. For players who are primarily interested in the story, this balance works well, but those looking for a more gameplay-driven experience may find it lacking in depth. Visually, the game adopts a retro-inspired style that aligns with its traditional RPG structure. Character sprites and environments are simple but functional, while illustrated scenes during key moments add a stronger emotional impact. These visual elements help convey the tone of the story, even if the overall presentation remains modest compared to more modern titles. The art direction prioritizes clarity and expression over detail, ensuring that important moments stand out despite the limitations of the engine. Audio design complements the experience without drawing too much attention to itself. The soundtrack follows familiar patterns, with tracks that shift between calm exploration themes and more intense battle music. While the music supports the atmosphere effectively, it does not leave a particularly lasting impression. Sound effects are similarly straightforward, providing the necessary feedback during gameplay without adding significant depth to the overall presentation. One aspect that defines the game’s identity is its inclusion of mature themes and suggestive elements, which are woven into both the narrative and certain gameplay moments. This content is not incidental but rather part of the game’s tone, contributing to its darker and more adult-oriented atmosphere. As a result, the game is…
6/10 - The artworks are really good, main character is lovely. Story is not bad. There are scenes that don't treat the main character well, many of them are quite disgusting. I feel sorry for her. Those scenes are not my type.
Really great game. One main character but it feels like four since she can switch races and adjust a certain physical attribute at will and that is before even playing the Elf Route. Lots of different endings as well. Also just want to say Liss is the best. She deserves her own non-h game or wholesome anime.
