ppL

"ppL" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. I think this is a joke game, it features a pixelated version of "Pepe the Frog" from the 2005 comic, "Boys Club", copyright Matt Furie (who, it should be known, has from time to time enforced his copyright legally, meaning this game could be living on borrowed time). Obviously stealing characters covered by copyright is not only unethical, in some juristictions can be a breach of criminal law. Of course, amateur developers often don't seem to care about copyright or respect the rights of other, better content creators. This is that kind of game... a banal, pointless precision platformer that's so badly polished, there's no precision at all. There is a bit of "shooting", and it's as lame as the creative ability of someone who has to steal other people's characters when making a game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic "retro" looking 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "ppL" has the ridiculous, laughable price of around $6 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $6 asking price for this game could get you games like "The Elder Scrolls Online", "Yakuza Kiwami" or "Disco Elysium". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. This game features a number of suspicious, likely fake positive reviews. The reviews all appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and all have very similar wording and writing style. Immediately after this huge peak of reviews, reviews (and player counts) for the game dropped incredibly sharply. This is highly unusual given the very low quality of the game and poor player counts. The "Positive" review score on this game should be taken with a large grain of salt. This might have been done to deceive/mislead gamers into paying for a bad product. Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

it's just not fun i finished the game (on normal) and honeslty, did not have good time. there is a certain "slide" after you finish pushing the foward which makes the game annoying also, some levels are just not fun - speicaly the crying princes one. hard skip

I like this game, but I have some problems with it. First of all: no controller support, second of all: having to walk all the way back to the hobo boss but not the other bosses, Other than that it's a good game, very nice visuals, definitely worth the modest price tag.
