Note: A totally wonderful friend sent me a copy of this game. ^^ Shopping at its simplest. :o Introduction Pack my Order is a cozy, shopping simulator developed and published by Owl's Howls. You're given a total of 60 levels with no timer or multiple difficulty levels. Basically, you have to fulfill the customer's order in each level by finding the food and/or drink items among the various categories. You can look at the order in the cart section and when you're ready, you click on the check button to see if the order is correct. If it is, you can move onto the next level. Otherwise, you have to figure out if you're missing any items or if the items you have in the cart are incorrect. Lots of Steam achievements are available, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game". Review Recently, I played Owl's Howls newest release, Make my Sandwich, which I highly enjoyed. (For my review, check it out here.) Thus, I wanted to try out another of the dev's games and seeing that this one has mixed reviews, I wanted to look into this game. :o Gameplay The gameplay is simple enough. You simply fulfill each customer's order with the shopping list they give you. While some orders are very specific with the exact items they need, others are more vague in which you have freedom to choose items as long as they meet the customer's requirements. Now, based on the negative reviews I read, the game doesn't provide a challenge to the point that you're mindlessly checking off items on a list. Even though I can agree that there is a lack of challenge, that doesn't necessarily make me think that the game is bad. For a cozy game, I'd prefer if the game was on the easier rather than the more difficult side and especially, if major technical bugs are present. Pack my Order doesn't have any technical problems and the gameplay is easy. The only challenge you might get is if you're not familiar with certain food items and/or which categories they belong to. However, because the gameplay is very easy, the game can be completed quite quickly. It took me less than 2 hours to complete all the levels and get all achievements. I'd definitely wait for a sale on this one. Art and Music The art style is very simple, with the food and drinks items drawn well enough that you can distinguish among them. It's fun to listen to the instrumental tracks as you're going about getting all those items for customers. Of course, if the music feels too loud or blaring, you can always turn it down and either have quiet or use music of your choosing from elsewhere. Conclusion Would I recommend Pack my Order? Personally, I liked it since I could play the levels at my own pace. Granted, it is on the easy side, but with cozy games, I'd prefer that over the opposite. If you want a challenge, though, then it's best to pass up on this game. I mean... its so... basic. You just... scroll through and find the foods Its rather dull. Sure I 100%ed this game. But I would never tell anyone else to spend money on this. Ever. Its just not worth 5 dollars.
