Letalis

Rock solid mechanics make Letalis stand out. The world is filled with discoveries such as lore bits, puzzles, arenas, dungeons and a lot of different monsters. Hiring gladiators and capturing monsters is a big part of the game. Fusing one of each type into powerful beastmen leads to a huge cast of units. Gladiators can also be ascended instead, for a different boost. Gear and loot also impact playstyle and tactical options. Static turn-based combat shines with effective buffs and a need to diversify skill use while also taking into account a rock/paper/scissors mechanic. Game Boy visuals are spot on and portraits are super cute. Difficulty can range from casual to hardcore depending on your setting choices.

I'm having a lot of fun with this! Tons of exploration, secrets, peril, and combat. The world feels so vast, and there's so much to do and see. I'm just on my adventure, guided by rumors from NPCs and my own whims, trusty team at my side. I couldn't ask more from a monster tamer.

This game feels like what you’d get if you mixed Pokémon with the SaGa series. An insane multilayered onion of a game that keeps offering surprises and secrets all throughout. The retro styling does make for some slightly cumbersome menus and the limited number of music tracks gets a little grating. Otherwise, it’s an incredible experience absolutely packed with content. It’s a strong 9/10 with extremely communicative devs on the Discord. Glory or Death!
