Lenin - The Lion

The ending was a bit anti-climactic and sudden. You can finish the story in 2-3 hours I never unlocked 7th or 8th ending In general the controls feel unresponsive, there's long delay between each animation, even keypress -> walking. Performance at 4k on linux is rather poor. The scrolling is jittery 20-35fps even on good hardware The story idea is good, but feels a bit shallow. The quests/minigames felt a bit mediocre. Though, the art is lovely Game design is hard and maybe the modern expectations are way higher what they were 10-20 years ago. I've had similar criticism on games that go art first. It's an alright game, but nothing to write home about.

All I wanted back then was to play games and enjoy the company of others, but instead I was shunned for my interests, my behavior, and simply being the outcast of society. This game mirrored a lot of those feelings in ways I didn’t anticipate. Lenin The Lion is a story-driven, choice-based adventure about a young boy weighed down by life at every turn. His father is absent. His mother doesn’t even see him as her own child. He’s bullied relentlessly, looked down on by everyone around him, and crushed under depression and anxious thoughts. Watching his struggles unfold was like a reflection of things I had lived through myself. Every choice you make shapes Lenin’s future, how conversations unfold, how people treat him, and ultimately which of the three different endings you reach. I loved every minute of it, whether the interactions were uplifting or painful. Each decision carried meaning and weight, and it makes you stop and think in ways most games don’t. Design At its core, Lenin The Lion is an RPG Maker game, but it stands out because of how well the atmosphere is crafted. The music, the character designs, and the way life’s struggles are depicted all come together beautifully. The soundtrack especially hit me, each track feels heavy, almost like it's emulating what it feels to look down at the ground instead of up toward the future. It’s a feeling I know all too well, and the game captures it perfectly. Conclusion If you enjoy discovering short hidden gems that don’t take long to finish but are packed with secrets, hidden interactions, and multiple endings, including a true ending, you need to play Lenin The Lion. Beyond that, if you’re someone struggling with your own battles in life, this is a story worth sitting down with. It might not fix everything, but it has a way of helping you feel seen. This game is an absolute must-play! The immersive world design, engaging story, and incredibly polished gameplay mechanics kept me hooked for hours. The story is incredibly satisfying, and the character progression feels perfectly balanced.
