IxSHE Tell is a cheerful romance visual novel that takes the familiar school dating formula and gives it an entertaining twist by making romance itself part of the school's ongoing debate. Developed by Hooksoft and published by NekoNyan Ltd., it focuses heavily on comedy, character chemistry, and the excitement of choosing between several heroines who are unusually willing to make their feelings known. Rather than relying on a gloomy atmosphere or complicated mysteries, the game confidently embraces romantic comedy and provides a relaxed experience for players who enjoy character-driven visual novels. The story centers on Hajime, the student council president responsible for successfully overturning his school's prohibition on romantic relationships. His victory earns enthusiastic approval from his fellow students, but it also creates an unexpected problem. Now that everyone is free to pursue romance, Hajime becomes the target of considerable romantic attention himself. The situation quickly develops into a competition between several girls, turning what initially appears to be a straightforward victory for student freedom into a much more personal challenge for the protagonist. What makes the premise particularly enjoyable is the willingness of the heroines to take initiative. Many romance visual novels spend considerable time waiting for the protagonist to recognize obvious feelings, whereas IxSHE Tell frequently allows its female characters to actively pursue the person they like. This creates a faster and more energetic romantic dynamic. Rivalries, teasing, misunderstandings, confessions, and increasingly affectionate encounters give the story a playful personality without requiring excessive melodrama to keep events interesting. The student council theme also provides a useful framework for the comedy. Hajime's position means he cannot simply treat the new freedom to date as an excuse for irresponsible behavior. The success of the policy needs to demonstrate that romance can coexist with normal school life. This creates an amusing contrast between his public responsibilities and increasingly complicated private relationships. The resulting situations give the story enough structure to prevent it from feeling like an unrelated collection of romantic scenes. Character interaction is ultimately the game's greatest strength. The heroines represent different personalities and romantic approaches, giving players meaningful reasons to explore more than one route. Their relationships with Hajime gradually move beyond simple attraction, and the story spends worthwhile time showing how affection develops once two characters become closer. This emphasis makes the romantic payoff more satisfying than visual novels that spend nearly the entire story building toward a confession and then immediately end. Gameplay follows traditional visual novel conventions. Most of the player's time is spent reading dialogue, enjoying character interactions, and making choices that influence which heroine's route becomes the focus. Anyone expecting complex simulation mechanics or action-oriented gameplay will not find them here. The interactive elements instead exist to support the narrative and allow players to determine which relationship they want to pursue. Multiple routes provide replay value, particularly for players who become interested in several members of the cast. Visually, the game benefits from colorful and polished anime-style character artwork. Expressions and illustrations reinforce the comedic and romantic tone, while the overall presentation feels appropriate for a modern Japanese romance visual novel. Japanese voice acting adds personality to conversations, while English interface text and subtitles make the story accessible to English-speaking players. The game also includes Steam achievements and Steam Cloud support, useful additions for completionists and players who move between devices. The mature content is present…
I am comfortable reviewing IxSHE Tell (Aishiteru) relatively early because I don’t think I intend to completely finish this one. This is the baseline for what a romcom VN should be. Very lighthearted and very funny. There are some really wacky characters and it’s all pretty over the top. You’re not going to get much of value out of it but it’s enjoyable, good brain off content when you need to decompress. I’ll be honest, only one romance option is at all interesting for me in this. It’s definitely made for a different audience than me. The tsundere/gap moe bully senpai, the antisocial childhood friend, the pining underclassman, and the tsundere president all just seem like kinda toxic grounds for a relationship. The estranged childhood friend while overbearing seems the most level headed of them all and has some actual romantic development in the common route. The TL sacrifices accuracy for embellishment at points, and usually I think that’s a good thing, but this one takes it just a little too far and adds or changes the meaning that wasn’t there in the original. It’s really obvious when the VA is saying only a couple words but a full on paragraph shows up in the textbox. The music is… eh. Not bad but they have it lowered by default so it’s pretty intentionally mediocre I’d say. The VAs do a good job of carrying the fun. Overall like a 6/10 experience. Not terrible, not great, but funny enough for a few hours of your time if the price is reasonable. update: after finishing the entire game, the only stand out romance was indeed Kasumi. the writers spent all the points on her. The rest are kinda just moeblob garbage save for a cute moment here or there. Really sucks because all of the humor immediately dies out. Play hers last as its by far the best one to end on.
I will say this VN is great, yes it has flaws yes but it is a near perfect VN in my eyes so if your thinking of getting it, go for it. A enjoyable story awaits.
