It's.. really hard(boiled) to put down, I must become one with the egg. At the start it feels almost impossible, but the deeper you get into eggstacy; the easier it gets. Music is so spot on, the calm music can lure you to feel too safe, and the stressful music can make you feel like you have to leggo of the egg too soon.
Egg Squeeze is an unusual indie experiment that manages to turn one extremely basic action into a surprisingly tense and entertaining game. Developed and published by MATTER GAMES, it presents the player as a volunteer taking part in a bizarre biological intuition examination. Your task sounds almost laughably simple: squeeze an egg for as long as possible and release it before it cracks. Beneath that ridiculous premise, however, is a clever game of judgment, risk management, timing, and knowing when enough is enough. Every egg has a breaking point, and the challenge comes from not knowing exactly where that limit lies. Holding on longer can produce a better result, but every additional moment also increases the possibility of destroying the egg. This creates an effective push-your-luck structure. Playing cautiously might keep an egg intact, yet it can also leave you wondering whether you could have squeezed it considerably longer. Becoming greedy, meanwhile, can transform an excellent attempt into an immediate failure. The game therefore makes hesitation part of the experience, turning a tiny decision into something strangely stressful. The fictional examination surrounding the mechanic is where much of the game's personality emerges. Players are supposedly being evaluated according to their psychokinetic intuition and their ability to understand the biological makeup of the eggs. The intentionally serious language surrounding such an absurd activity creates a strong sense of dark comedy. At the same time, the game incorporates psychological horror, surreal imagery, and an increasingly strange atmosphere. There is always a feeling that something more unusual is happening behind this apparently harmless egg-squeezing test. Its simplicity also makes the game extremely approachable. There are no complicated combat mechanics or enormous control schemes to memorize. The central idea can be understood almost immediately, leaving the player to concentrate on improving their intuition. Repeated attempts gradually encourage experimentation, especially once the game starts revealing more of its unusual systems and secrets. It is the kind of design where curiosity becomes almost as important as mechanical skill because you are constantly encouraged to see what happens next. The main experience is deliberately short, with the core game designed around roughly one to three hours of play. That duration works in its favor because the central joke and mechanic are unusual enough to remain entertaining without being unnecessarily stretched into a lengthy campaign. Players who want to continue afterward can use Infinite Squeeze mode, which extends the concept into a replayable format. This gives score chasers and players fascinated by the underlying systems a reason to continue squeezing long after the main experience has ended. There is also more surrounding content than the premise initially suggests. Numerous secrets encourage players to experiment rather than simply rush through each test, while 26 Steam achievements provide additional objectives for completionists. The soundtrack is another surprisingly substantial element, containing more than 50 tracks composed by indie game veterans. Having such a large musical selection helps prevent the relatively repetitive central interaction from feeling monotonous and gives different portions of the experience their own character. Visually, Egg Squeeze favors an intentionally strange mixture of colorful, abstract, pixel-based, hand-drawn, and psychedelic elements rather than attempting realism. This fits perfectly with the concept. The presentation reinforces the impression that the player has entered some bizarre institution where squeezing eggs has somehow become a serious scientific measurement. Humor and uneasiness regularly overlap, allowing an amusing situation to suddenly become uncomfortable without abandoning the game's eccentric personality. The technical requirements are extr…
there's nothing worthwhile here. sorry if i come off as cynically joyless but the only sufficient explanation that makes sense to me for why this got a day in the sun on social media is that it's flagrant streamer-bait. i kept expecting gameplay to at least have something else going on but no it really is just a roulette. meanwhile, the high-water mark for jokes is "egg tuah". spent probably $5 and less than an hour with this and can't help but regret even that minimal investment.
