Defrag Incremental

They had a cute idea and got the aesthetic right. But there's not really a game here. None of the mechanics are very clear and, since the rules of the game don't match the historical context, you can't really infer them either. You can't buy upgrades during downtime; you have to purchase them during the little defrag animation (at which point the game pauses). You can "reboot" your computer to prestige, which is bewildering since one would ordinarily have to do that each time the hard drives on the machine were swapped out. Most importantly, it's just not fun: there are virtually no choices to make and the ones you do make aren't very influential and have hard-to-predict results.

Not good. Nothing beyond the elevator pitch of the premise of the game is compelling. Most of the game boils down to maximizing RC/s and the game sends up walls of text to try to obfuscate this reality. The game is also guilty of wasting time at every stage of the way, including on the screen between workdays. There are better free games.

A very slow burn type of game, to a fault early on (the upgrades are SUPER weak early on so it kind of feels like you're not making progress), but if you stick with it, it becomes oddly compelling. Edit after more playtime: the endgame seems to be totally borked? The fast algorithm was already the best choice every time, but now the drives take so long that it's literally the only one that can finish a single drive in a day, so that balancing feels bad. Not to mention that I want to complete all of the money based life goals but it's just super slow and grindy now...this game still needs some work, because progression just becomes miserable once you get to tier 8 disks and the fact that only one type of algorithm ever seems to be the correct one makes it very repetitive
