Counter-Strike

Думаю такой вопрос для этой игры не уместен)) время всё показало, это стандарт думаю. Почему просто его не проапргрейдят?! - не знаю ...

I loved the original mod. The Steam version never felt the same. I played Counter-Strike when it was still a Half-Life mod, and I played it all the time. It made me fall in love with FPS games. I still have my Danish Computerspil Tips & Tricks coverdisc from issue 5/2000, with Counter-Strike Beta 6.0 on it. A magazine disc could give you something you ended up playing for years. The community was a big part of why I enjoyed it. So was the game itself. You died and waited for the next round. Listening, moving carefully and keeping yourself alive mattered. I still remember cs_mansion: the house, the garden and finding my way outside the surrounding wall, where I could see underneath the map. It had some bloody strange rough edges. I only played the later Steam version a handful of times. I never connected with it. Counter-Strike had changed through years of updates, and the version in front of me no longer felt like the game I had loved. The name was familiar, but I did not want to keep playing. The whole series also shows why modding matters. People built something around Half-Life, community mapmakers contributed, and it became enormous. Companies shutting down mods should think about what they might be throwing away. That old coverdisc matters to me because it preserves a particular version. A current store page cannot give me those years back. The original mod remains one of the best Counter-Strike games for me. That is the CS I miss.
