I'm a bit torn on this one. It has a decent story, has a good amount of game time, conveys the Christmas atmosphere well and there were some fun minigames in it. But after a point I got kinda tired of it. The puzzles do make sense but they are maybe too straightforward and the whole flow of the game is very linear. It's very clear what you have to use in most of the places, you use it, you get another object in return, which also is quite clear what you should use it on and so on. That made it feel a bit tedious, kinda like running errands. I also have to agree with many of the negative aspects highlighted by other reviewers: outdated look (although this one isn't that bad for me, I'm one of those older gamers so it even brings me nostalgia), some frustrating and confusing minigames that I had to skip, music and ambient sounds stop playing after a bit of being in a scene, no Steam achievements. But I guess I'll have to give it a positive review because I think overall it was good work and - especially for Christmas games - the atmosphere matters a lot to me. In the end I did finish both it and the bonus game, so I guess it kept my interest enough for me to play it for so many hours. Oh and there are kitties in it.
Beautiful game...so pretty graphics...and some hard riddles....really worths it,especially at Christmas period....the game has to do with Scrooge's life....it really to deserve to be at your gaming life
Christmas Stories: A Christmas Carol Collector's Edition is a warm, narrative-focused hidden-object puzzle adventure that reimagines one of the most enduring holiday tales through interactive storytelling and cozy exploration. Developed by Elephant Games and published by BFG Entertainment, the game is part of the long-running Christmas Stories series and stays firmly rooted in the traditions of the HOPA genre. Rather than attempting to modernize or subvert its source material, it embraces the familiar structure and themes of Charles D***’s A Christmas Carol, transforming them into a relaxed, atmospheric experience that emphasizes mood, character, and gentle puzzle-solving. The story follows the classic arc of Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey toward redemption, guiding players through key moments inspired by D***’s novella. As Scrooge encounters the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, players explore richly illustrated environments that reflect both the warmth and sorrow of Victorian-era London. The narrative unfolds gradually, allowing players to absorb the emotional beats without rushing, and the pacing is carefully tuned to maintain a sense of progression while still encouraging lingering observation. Familiar characters such as Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim are woven naturally into the adventure, reinforcing the story’s emotional core and grounding the experience in themes of compassion, generosity, and reflection. Gameplay adheres closely to established hidden-object adventure conventions, alternating between searching detailed scenes for specific items and solving a variety of light logic puzzles. The hidden-object scenes are thoughtfully constructed, balancing visual clutter with clarity so that finding items feels rewarding rather than frustrating. Mini-games add variety to the flow, offering pattern recognition challenges, mechanical puzzles, and simple logic tests that fit comfortably within the game’s relaxed tone. None of these puzzles are particularly demanding, but they are consistently engaging and serve to break up exploration in a way that keeps the experience from feeling monotonous. Visually, the game excels at creating a festive and nostalgic atmosphere. Snow-covered streets, candlelit interiors, and softly glowing decorations evoke the warmth of the holiday season, while character portraits and animated elements add personality to each scene. The art style is polished and cohesive, favoring hand-painted detail over realism, which suits the fairy-tale quality of the story. Complementing the visuals is a gentle musical score and ambient sound design that reinforces the sense of comfort and seasonal charm, making the game feel especially inviting during winter months. The Collector’s Edition expands on the base experience with additional content that adds value for fans of the genre. Bonus chapters extend the story and provide more time with beloved characters, while optional collectibles and achievements encourage thorough exploration of every scene. Extras such as replayable puzzles, concept art, and other unlockables cater to completionists and players who enjoy revisiting their favorite moments. These additions don’t radically alter the gameplay, but they deepen the overall package and make the experience feel more complete. Like many titles in the hidden-object genre, the game does not attempt to innovate mechanically, and players familiar with Elephant Games’ catalog will recognize many familiar systems and design choices. Occasional technical quirks or pacing slowdowns can arise, particularly on modern systems, but these issues rarely overshadow the core experience. The game’s predictability may limit its appeal for players seeking challenge or novelty, yet for its intended audience, this familiarity is part of the charm rather than a flaw. Ultimately, Christmas Stories: A Christmas Carol Collector’s Edition succeeds by delivering a heartfelt, accessible adaptation of a timeless ho…
