While the overall concept may appear straightforward at first, the game steadily introduces enough creativity and mechanical variety to keep the experience consistently enjoyable from beginning to end. The story and setting are intentionally lighthearted, focusing on two adorable characters working together inside elaborate toy-making facilities. Chippy and Noppo each possess different physical traits and abilities that naturally shape how puzzles are approached. Chippy is small, agile, and capable of fitting into narrow spaces or operating lower machinery, while Noppo is taller and better suited for reaching elevated platforms and interacting with larger mechanisms. Nearly every puzzle revolves around combining these strengths effectively, creating a strong sense of interdependence between the two characters. What makes the game especially enjoyable is how naturally it promotes cooperation. Most levels are carefully designed around shared responsibilities, forcing players to communicate constantly while operating machines, transporting toy components, activating switches, or navigating environmental hazards together. Co op and multiplayer games are my favorite thing. Ever since I was a kid, my two little brothers and I were finding ways to play even single player games together. In Crash Bandicoot Warped, I'd play the Orient Express levels, since my brother's reflexes weren't as good, while he would do the Road Crash 'cause I could never get first place. We'd play Need for Speed Underground and share tips for certain races, or show off our cars. Gaming has ALWAYS been a shared experience for me, so I'm naturally drawn to whatever 4-player friendslop, or 2-player adventures I can find. And luckily, I have a husband and friends who indulge me in whatever new thing I find. Chippy and Noppo is one such thing. It's a cute co-op game, despite being rough around the edges. It's a game about two tiny workers in a toy factory, who have to cooperate to assemble block-like toys. The story itself is super simple and minimal, since the main draw is the puzzle element itself: spatial orientation, the ability to plan out and think in advance. And think and plan you reeeeally need to, because when two blocks snap into place, there's no separating them. You have to physically hit an "undo" button that turns back time for one or several steps, to before you made the mistake. So you really have to be careful, and communicate with your partner in crime assembly line. As the levels progress, the toys get a bit more complex, you get new mechanics, extra blocks to confuse you, but also the factory rooms get trickier to navigate. Luckily, there's just enough jank in the character movements that you can kind of cheese your way into solving a build. As in, you don't have to use some of the tiresome mechanics. There are also themed costumes unlocked with each new factory, and a creative mode to make your own toys and share the creations with the community. It's an indie darling for me, jank and all, and I'd really recommend it. Overall, the game is fun - the sound design is nice, the character voices adorable, and the puzzles rarely get super difficult. Chippy and Noppo are a great pickup for couples who enjoy casual games, for parents and kids, or just kids in general.
