An unusual and very interesting game about cats in ancient times. You can destroy everything around, fight with monsters, you can even cast a spell and all this playing as a cute cat. I didn't expect anything unusual from the game, but in fact I got a lot of perky fun. Believe me, you have definitely not seen this yet :)
Cat Gets Medieval is a whimsical action-adventure game from LetMeowt Games LLC that fully embraces its eccentric premise: you are a magical, sentient cat turned loose in a colorful medieval world. From the moment the game begins, it wears its personality proudly. The environments are bright and inviting, the humor leans into feline mischief, and the world is stocked with dungeons, forests, villages, and oddball characters waiting to be climbed, poked, scratched, or hairballed on. Rather than aiming for gritty fantasy, the game offers an intentionally playful take on the genre, framing medieval questing through the eyes of a curious cat who happens to wield magic and collect powerful artifacts. The open-world structure gives Cat Gets Medieval its sense of discovery. You’re free to roam caves, castle interiors, mazelike crypts, and broader outdoor regions in search of ingredients, collectibles, and the six scattered crown fragments needed to push back the looming darkness threatening the realm. Exploration is rewarding not just for progression, but for how often the game leans into its cat-centric humor—climbing up trouser legs to reach higher platforms, knocking items off shelves, or launching hairball attacks at unsuspecting NPCs. The world is dotted with quests both silly and earnest, and while the writing isn’t meant to be deep, it adds to the charm of inhabiting a mischievous hero who treats adventuring as a mix between a scavenger hunt and a playground. Combat and progression are deliberately lightweight, designed to keep the game accessible rather than overwhelming. You collect magical artifacts tied to elemental themes, each granting unique abilities that encourage experimentation as you build your version of the feline hero. Basic stats like health, strength, and magical potency improve steadily, giving a sense of forward momentum without burying the player under complex systems. The controls are simple and responsive, making traversal and combat feel breezy. While these mechanics lack the depth found in larger action-RPGs, they support the game’s focus on lighthearted exploration and approachable pacing. One of the standout features is the co-op option, which allows up to four players to join forces. The game’s physics and sense of chaos shine brightest when multiple cats are sprinting around, launching spells, and scrambling through dungeons together. Co-op doesn’t just make the game more entertaining—it also smooths out certain difficulty spikes by letting friends tackle challenges collectively. The customization system adds another fun layer, letting players craft their own feline adventurers and embrace their preferred visual style, whether cute, fierce, or absurd. Despite its charm, Cat Gets Medieval shows some rough edges. Certain quests can bug out, forcing players to restart or retrace their steps, and a few collectible-based tasks lack clear guidance, occasionally resulting in frustrating hunts for hidden items. The open world, while lively and colorful, sometimes recycles environmental assets, which can make deeper exploration feel repetitive. Performance can also fluctuate on lower-end hardware, especially when spell effects stack or when multiple players explore larger areas simultaneously. These issues don’t break the experience, but they do remind you that this is an indie title with limited resources behind it. What ultimately elevates the game is its tone—a mix of gentle fantasy and cat-powered absurdity that feels unlike most action-adventure titles. It succeeds best when players allow themselves to enjoy its playful nature rather than approach it with expectations of complex systems or expansive storytelling. Its modest price, cooperative gameplay, and joyful presentation give it strong value for fans of light fantasy romps and those who simply love games that don’t take themselves too seriously. Cat Gets Medieval is a cheerful, quirky journey that benefits from its refreshing perspective and…
