Brave × Junction

It's a simple dungeon crawler with blackjack themed turn-based battles with a nice anime aesthetic. The idea for the combat is that you and each opponent you face play a brief round of blackjack, with the person with the higher score attacking and the difference between hands determining the damage. Fun enough, but it gets more interesting when the hand affecting skills of the other characters come into play. Weapons also affect combat and can have their special traits moved to other weapons, which is another way to give yourself an edge. The dungeon crawling is dead simple and basically only consists of choosing whether to advance to the next square linearly or not for each floor, until you clear the last floor, and repeat the process for the next (after the plot sequences). The later dungeons do also feel too long for a combat system that is still kind of simple and there aren't that many enemy designs. There is some fun to be had in the plot, though the translation could use work. I can still recommend it as decent fun with an interesting gimmick.

I love dungeon crawlers and I love blackjack. This game delivers on both for the most part and is very addicting. The battle system is well thought out with a variety of abilities and items that spice up the formula. Three different characters means you can play three different styles. Wish splitting was implemented in some way with a character ability like double down and surrender is.

A fun little game with a great concept, worth checking out. Nothing feels greater than stealing the enemy's cards and ruining their lives.
