Bitter Harvest

Overall it's a cute game with a funny new take on an old genre and I would recommend it, but there are a few cons. It does have an unfinished feel to it so I think it would be more for people who don't mind working around a glitch here or there. Given it's relatively recent release, I'm willing to give it some grace though since who knows what updates will bring. Pros: - Cute graphics and interesting characters - The choices you make in your responses legitimately impact the story and ending - The petty/shady options are hilarious and make the story feel a little more alive - The controls are easy enough to learn if you've played similar games - Decent sized map for people who like exploring (like me) Cons: - The tutorial can be lacking in terms of figuring out controls but there are context clues to help, so it's not a major thing - For some odd reason, only certain key commands can be changed. So you have to play WASD for movement because the 'S' key can't be changed for backing up, though all the other keys can be changed weirdly enough. - For total beginners with farm sims or people who prefer super casual gaming, there is some guesswork on what to do at the beginning. So you'll be scrambling for the first little bit. - Went to check out the mine and couldn't find an exit after I entered, so I was trapped inside. Either it was a bug or I may just be stupid and wasn't able to spot it. I feel like an update to polish a few things would go a long way in making the game more enjoyable but the core of it is enjoyable. If you don't mind farming games where you have to guess a little or deal with a work in progress (like Fields of Mistria), then you should get it.

What if you have a game with the usual "Inherit/Buy a farm and leave your old life behind" trope but once you arrive, you are being told that there is no farm for you? That's exactly what this game is about. What begins as a fun and innovative game idea is quickly being overshadowed by not only technical but also gameplay limitations. While the devs had a great game idea, the execution was done poorly. Too bad! Because this actually had a LOT of potential. What you're being left with is a glorified incremental game which is way too overpriced on Steam.

If you go into this game thinking its like all the rest of the cozy little farming sims, you might find your self surprised. I made a choice thinking ha you deserve it, but then felt really guilty lol. Its not overpacked with a million things, but it keeps my ADHD brain active for a while. I dont find it rough, just simple little game to enjoy.
