Backyard Football '99

if you use mouse controls you can aim your pass anywhere, but you arent able to scramble as qb, or choose where you run as qb. If you use keyboard controls, you can scramble etc but you arent able to aim exactly where you want the pass, so I would like if you could add an option to use arrow keys to move AND click to pass as qb

Amazing retro game that brings you back to your childhood, might not be the best backyard sports games but still a favorite of mine

Game still holds up after all these years. The passing is really fun especially making your own plays. You really learn to value height, speed, and arm strength. You're able to lead receivers on a post, hit the timing of an out route, or take a slant the distance. The passing feels expressive and rewards skill. The players have a lot of personality, and if you're willing to do research and challenge yourself you'll find a lot of depth in the B tier players. It's fun to have a super team but the challenge and reward of limiting pros and Pablo opens up new fun. Ernie Steele is an amazing WR for possession plays and when paired with a speedster makes for a potent offense. I think Pete Wheeler is the goat. Speed kills and he's the fastest. Kiesha Philips is the best DL (and an amazing lb if you like Dimitri) and maybe my favorite player. The pro teams are missing but I feel like the team did a great job with the replacement backyard teams. They have great personalities and unless you were a hardcore fan it's hard to tell what was an original team and what's a new one on visual alone. They unfortunately were unable to recreate Sunny Day or Chuck Downfield's voice's for the new teams in the announcements, but the quality of the original audio vfx is poor enough to not completely break my immersion when they say a new line vocal line. Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot more than I thought I was going to. It's way lower cortisol than Baseball 01' but still with enough depth to enjoy.
