Aerofly RC 10 has a lot of potential, and I genuinely enjoy using it, but after spending time with it and testing it with different RC transmitters, I feel there are several areas where it could be significantly better. The biggest issue for me is that different aircraft often feel too similar. When switching between airplanes or helicopters, I don't get enough of a sense that I'm flying completely different machines. The differences in weight, power, inertia, responsiveness, and overall flight characteristics should be much more noticeable. This is especially important with helicopters, where different models should have very different personalities and handling characteristics. Transmitter integration also needs improvement. I have tested Aerofly with both a RealFlight RC simulator controller and my Spektrum NX7e+, and not all of the available switches are properly recognized. For an RC simulator, especially for experienced users with advanced transmitters, there should be much more flexibility in channel and switch mapping. Setting up a new transmitter is also not as plug-and-play as it should be. It takes a few minutes to go through everything and verify that all the sticks, channels, and switches are actually working correctly. Five minutes isn't a huge amount of time, but the setup should be much more straightforward. There is also an issue with switch state synchronization after crashes or restarting a flight. For example, with a helicopter, if throttle hold is active when I crash, Aerofly may not recognize that the physical switch is still in the same position after restarting. I have to turn the switch off and back on again for the simulator to recognize it. The simulator should always know the actual physical state of the transmitter, especially for important functions like throttle hold. Another thing I would really like to see is proper aircraft customization. Changing the size of an aircraft isn't really the kind of customization I'm looking for. I want to be able to modify the actual components: motors, ESCs, batteries, servos, propellers, rotor blades, gears, weight, etc. Real RC pilots constantly modify and upgrade their models, and those changes have a real effect on how the aircraft flies. I don't just want to change the size of an aircraft — I want to be able to build and tune it. The aircraft selection also needs to become more modern. I would much rather have real, current RC models than fictional aircraft or models that were popular 15–20 years ago. I don't need hundreds of aircraft; I want the aircraft I can actually buy and fly in real life. Accurate recreations of current models from real RC manufacturers would add a huge amount of authenticity. The user experience could also be improved. There are too many menus and settings that feel hidden or difficult to find. Sometimes I feel like I'm spending more time looking for a setting than actually flying. A cleaner interface and better organization of the controls, transmitter settings, and aircraft options would make the simulator much easier to use. Finally, I think Aerofly is missing a proper RC flight academy. I don't want to learn by flying through virtual tubes and gates. I want to learn how to fly an RC aircraft the way I would actually fly it at a real RC field. A proper training academy could teach basic orientation, takeoffs, landings, hovering, circuits, figure eights, coordinated turns, emergency procedures, helicopter autorotation, inverted flight, aerobatics, and more advanced maneuvers. Give me a realistic flying field where I can take off, fly freely, practice approaches, land, make mistakes, recover, and try again. Nobody wants to fly inside a tube. I want to fly like I would in a real RC field. Overall, I think Aerofly RC 10 has a very good foundation and is enjoyable to fly, but it could become a much better RC simulator by focusing more on realism, modern real-world models, transmitter integration, customization, and actual RC flight…
Using this sim with a Radiomaster Tx on a Mac is just painless! Bluetooth connection makes it even better. Bought all the upgrades - not needed to hone those rc skills, but makes it nicer.
