A-Train9 TRAIN CONSTRUCTION

This game lets people to be creative for making trains, especially railfans. It provides variety ranges of body, decals, and etc. For me, I thought that I can shape a car body, but it must choose the right one. The decals are limited too, so I created an E235 gradient for my work. Overall, this game is satisfying!

This is a very capable app that allows you to recreate almost any Japanese train you can think of. The interface is straightforward, and if you’ve worked with visual editors like GIMP or Photoshop before, you’ll be in familiar territory — Layers, Masks, Groups, Copy, Paste, Scale, and so on. When starting on your lead vehicle design, you can either use templates or begin from scratch. I recommend starting with templates for your first few projects, as it helps you understand the workflow more quickly. One thing to note: as far as I can tell, there’s no ready-made set of train windows to pick from. Instead, you’ll be working with templates or using existing decals to create them. The Workshop is useful here for importing decals and formations. Once you’ve completed your lead car, it’s easy to carry the design over to your passenger cars. Use the “capture from vehicle” option instead of starting with a template. The program will usually produce a close match to your lead car — a few small adjustments are usually all that’s needed to get it just right. From there, you can take that livery and adapt it to other engine classes or passenger vehicles. Change the color, tweak a few elements, and you’ll have something fresh while keeping the overall style consistent. At this point, it’s worth preparing yourself for the fact that getting your designs into A-Train 9 is not the most intuitive process: TO GET FORMATIONS INTO A-TRAIN 9 Save a formation in Constructor. Run A-Train 9 V5, then open your current save game. Click the CUSTOM button at the top. Click IMPORT (this will only appear if you’ve already saved a formation in Constructor). Select your saved formation file. Close the right-hand window. Back on the first CUSTOM screen, choose CREATE PASSENGER. The IMPORT button is on this screen too, though it’s not immediately obvious. Create a train from the imported formation, using the available slots to configure your layout. Click ENTER CUSTOM TRAIN to register it in the game. Exit CUSTOM, click TRAIN, find an open slot, and click BUY. In the first row under Rolling Stock, select Custom instead of Original. Your imported train should now appear. If it doesn’t, repeat the steps carefully — it’s easy to miss a small detail on the first try. While the process is a little fiddly, once you’ve imported a few custom trains it becomes much quicker. The flexibility and end results make the effort worthwhile if you enjoy building unique and accurate formations.

A lovely game where you can custom paint and design your own trains. Love the concept, and love how simplistic the game is. However, perhaps I do not have the patience to individually design the doors or stare at the screen making sure the row of train windows are aligned. The decals can be duplicated yes, though I do feel windows shouldn't be created by adding decals under the paint section. It would have been better if it was under the train part and it could snap to each other. Honestly 6.5/10. It is great but it could benefit from some minor addons. However, it is not really worth the price.
